When would you have party?

Please excuse all my “Im having a csection so what should I do questions” LOL I know it is getting annoying but bc I have no idea what to expect I just feel like I need insight from other people.

So I am due with baby #2, May 11th. Probably having my csection May 4th. DD #1s birthday is May 19th. I am not having a big party for her, just family over for lunch and cake. It still amounts to about 15 people at the house.

Would you have her party April 30 (when I am 38 weeks pregnant), May 21, the Saturday after her bday, even though that is 2 weeks after my csection or would you wait until the first weekend in June. June scares me bc my cousin is due with twins right around that time and some of my family will be going to NJ for that.

I was leaning towards May 21 bc I figure the newborn will be the easiest to deal with and it’s not like family won’t wanna come see the baby anyway but my sister said I may be pushing myself too much and now I am not sure!

Thoughts?

Re: When would you have party?

I was in pain for a little bit after having my csection but mine was not plan and I was in labor for hours before so my body was recovering from labor and a csection. I might have to agree with your sister your really not supposed to be lifting to much after your csection and you will probably be tired so I don't think I would want to host a party 2 weeks after giving birth.

I would either do it before hand at 38 weeks OR wait till later on to her birthday party maybe mid June

When would you have party?

I would have it after. I felt 100x better after I gave birth (even with a csection) than I did for the last 2 months of my pregnancy.

Mine was not planned and I still think I had a great recovery. And if its just family I'm sure people can pitch in and help.

My c section recovery SUCKED!!! Lol. But I was fine 2 weeks later. Dont go nuts with lifting super heavy things. Ask a family member ahead of time if they can help. I choose the date 2 weeks afterChat Icon

Re: When would you have party?

I hosted dd1's bday at 38 weeks pregnant and felt fine ( but I felt great the whole pregnancy). If you wait till after, 2 weeks is a little close - I'd only do it if you know your family who comes over will bear the brunt of the work.

Re: When would you have party?

My scheduled c recovery was MUCH better than the c I had with DS1, which obviously wasn't planned so I vote May 19th.

I was even fine a week later when we had DS2's bris. Only thing was my boobs were enormous and I'm usually tiny. LOL!

When would you have party?

i am in the same boat with #3. I am due May 17 and dd2 6th bday is May 24th. I am not expecting a c-section lol, but I am having her party at a place for her friends 2 weeks after on June 11th. I figure I'd be more comfortable after. As it is right now i am 32 weeks and so uncomfortable.
I am so happy I chose after.

I also picked a place where I do very little. I am just bring in a cake.

So def ask for help. I know it's at your house, but cater in, and try not to do to much.

Re: When would you have party?

I'd probably have the party early, before your C-section. For me, I really wouldn't want to entertain anyone or have a party just a few days after my C-section. I wasn't get around well, I was still in a lot of pain, and I was just plain exhausted and still needed downtime to recover. I wouldn't push yourself, especially because you have no idea how your recovery will be. Do the party before when you're still feeling ok and give yourself the time after to just focus on recovering.

ETA - BOTH of my C-sections were planned and BOTH times I felt like $hit after and it took a few weeks to feel like my old self. Just because a C-section is planned doesn't automatically meant the recovery will be easier, everyone is different and it is major abdominal surgery.

May 21.

I'd be nervous to have a party at 38 weeks since I had both of my kids early.

2 weeks post-c-section I would have been fine as long as I wasn't doing the "heavy lifting" so to speak for the party - i.e. that you're ordering food, others are doing the setting up and cleaning up.

Re: When would you have party?

No chance of putting it off another week, so you're 3 weeks PP? I know I felt CONSIDERABLY better by 3 weeks after C-section than I did at 2 weeks. If not, I vote for 5/21. I'd do either pizza, or cater the food. DH can be sent out to get the cake and soda/beverages, etc. As long as it is just family, they will know that you just had a baby, and I'm sure they'll do all the work.

I would do it before the c-section. Two weeks later you could feel fine but you could not. I felt ok but I was in no way waiting to host a party lol. Especially since you will be in the hospital still for 5 days so that only leaves you home for about a week and 2 days before you are throwing a birthday party. You also throw in the added fact that you will have a two week old and a bunch of people over. I guess that is up to you how comfortable you are with that.

I would do it before hand. I would not want that many people around the newborn.

I would do it beforehand. Although I was fine after a week, I would not want to deal with hosting a party just having had a newborn.

When would you have party?

I would do it beforehand. I was in the same boat, minus the csection. My girls are 4 days apart. I did dd1s 2nd birthday party two weeks early. I was too nervous to go into labor and miss it and I didn't want to do it after with a newborn.

We had DS#1's 2nd birthday party 3 weeks early.

You don't know how your recovery will be.
