Which would you pick?- Added a question
I'm going to Myrtle Beach with my boys, 9 and 6. I could rent a car from Hotwire for $114 but I will have to wait on line to get the car. Or I could rent with Alamo for $138 and just go straight to the car. Is paying the extra $24 worth it?
In order for me to get that Alamo rate it would be through Costco. Are they strict about checking for a Costco card? Or could I book it through my sister or my friends membership number? I "could" renew my membership of course.

yes! I will do anything to avoid having to go to car rental desks. I feel like no matter where or what company you rent from, , they are always trying to up sell you.

After waiting 2 brutal hours in the airport for our super discounted car last time we took a trip, I would pay a little more to just get it and go.

I would go with Alamo.
And who knows - the price may end up going down between now and when you leave (it usually happens when I book rentals there).

I've never been asked to provide my Costco or BJs card when I've booked cars through them.

I would pay the extra money to not wait. I hate having to wait at the rental counter. I've booked cars through BJ's before and have never had to show my membership card
