Hiring off care.com
If you used care.com were you happy with your experience?
Did you run a background check or just meet with them and see what kind of feelings you get -check reference etc?
I'm not looking for full time care but someone who can babysit on Saturdays Ina fairly regular basis

we hired two people this past fall part time and one of them has worked out great and the other quit (which we were fine with). we did a background check on each of them. The person we found and stayed has been amazing and we actually get complimented by people at my daughters school about how great she is with the kids.
I definitely say spend the money for the background check. and be prepared for some good and some bad responses but it was worth it for us.

I was happy with it.
I did the background check.
I met the girl at dunkin donuts interviewed her got her references
And i trusted my gut. I did feel her out.
My dd loved her she was a doll i was so upset when she eventually didnt need the job anymore.

We hired a nanny off of Care.com. We checked references and ran a background check as well.

We found someone on sittercity. We meet at Starbucks initially, then she came over while I was home to spend time with DS. Background check and social media stalk. Google searches etc.

Yes, all my sitters from care.com have been GREAT. I haven't paid for their background check, it's free to search criminal records and driving records if you have a first and last name and address. I assume this is everywhere but I live in Maryland.
