Has anyone had a birthday party at Gymboree? How was it? Thinking about have my DD's 2nd birthday there (Westbury). We're members and she loves it. I'm curious to see your opinions.

Also, do you know if I can bring in my own food for the adults? Or do I have to order everything through them?

Last question (for now!): party is 1.5 hours. Is that long enough? Or should I add the extra half hour? TIA!

Re: Gymboree Birthday Party

We attended a party there last summer and we enjoyed it, seemed like others did as well. It was at the Westburry location. The party was an hour and a half and it was definitely enough time. The birthday child was turning 2 and most of the kids were around that age. It was the perfect amount of time.

The only thing I'll say is, we went to the gym part, then to the back for pizza, then back ou to the gym, then back to the back room for birthday cake, then back out again to the gym to play some more and the blew bubbles (riled the kids up again post-sugar lol). I found that part was choppy. I would have preferred gym-pizza-cake-done.

We had DD"s 3rd birthday there and it was great. I was afraid she would be too old but all the kids loved it from 2-5 years old. It was pretty unstructured with a lot of free play bc there was only one instructor to our package but the kids really had a blast. We did the option where we had a dessert only party and we provided all of the food. For that option that option we could not bring outside food except for dessert- cake, cupcakes, fruit salad, and I think I brought juice and coffee.

PS- I didn't know it at the time but I hear RObert is great-- definitely ask for him if you decide to do your DD's party there!

ETA: 1.5 hours was enough.

Westbury if you want to order food for the adults you can buy through them. They use a pizza place and you can get a few different menu items. If you call and ask they will let you know what they are (I think salad, chicken, pasta). The pizza is good there.

What day do you attend class? I take my son Monday's and Friday's.

We went to a party there last year for a 2nd birthday party and dd had a blast! 1.5 hrs was more than ample time. Any longer and kids start to lose it.

I had my son's 2nd birthday there (at Westbury as well). It was awesome! Staff did an excellent job. Was very happy. 1.5 hours is plenty. I brought in some cookies and snacks for the adults and brought my own birthday cake.

Plan on having my little guy's 2nd birthday there this summer. We are members as well. Attend weekend classes during the school year.

We had DS1's 2nd bday at the Gymboree in East Northport, I really liked it. The kids had a great time and I think the 1 1/2 hrs was more than enough. I got my own cake and cupcakes from a vendor I know but the food had to be ordered through them, a pizzeria. I ordered an extra pie of pizza (one pie was included in their pricing), baked ziti, and salad.

The pizzeria next to east northport Gymboree (that's where we attend class) is soooo good. Their buffalo chicken pizza is amazing!!

We were at the Westbury location for a party and thought it was great. I agree with PennyCat about the gym-pizza-gym-cake-gym part being confusing. I'd probably ask if they could do gym-pizza-cake. But other than that, it was great!

I was kinda disappointed I couldn't get the food on my own (I wanted to get it from my BIL, he has an Italian restaurant in RVC and it's amazing!) but the restaurant next to them wasn't bad at all, I was surprised!
