Can't go to party, giving a gift
DS was invited to a kid from daycare's birthday party today and I had said yes. I think I was the only one from daycare invited because I met the mom a few weeks ago and we had an impromptu play date. Unfortunately, DS got sick last night and I had to tell his mom that I couldn't come. Do I still give him the gift card? I could ask one of the daycare staff to give it to him on Monday, but I wasn't sure.

I would and have done it before. Had to cancel last minute and sent a gift card the following Monday.

Yes, i would. Same thing had happened to me. Lara was invited, got sick, let the mom know we couldnt make it. Still gave gift.

Yes. It was a last minute cancellation, they probably paid for him in the headcount, and you're friendly with the mom.

We had the same thing happen this weekend and I sent a gift with another friend.
If I RSVP no in advance I typically don't send a gift.
