I don't always understand people... clearly, i'm a simpleton
i'm posting all over the place today... lol clearly, i don't have much to do at work today
i work for a small company. i think we're a total of 15-19 people, including the owners.
the owners are a father/son team. there were some issues with the office manager(s), so they brought on the son's live-in girlfriend to run the office.
so, she and i work together the majority of the day. since my SO works here, too, we find ourselves chatting about "our men." nothing too serious, but fun, girl talk. we also buy each other lunch.
during this time, we've shared a little bit of our backgrounds and family stories. a lot of general, light-hearted stuff.
now, one of the people who works here (a salesman), is an older gentleman who is also a minister. he sits behind me.
yesterday, she walked over to his desk and he said VERY LOUDLY (lol because he's always loud), how happy he was for THEM. he then said CONGRATULATIONS. and he asked her if THEY'VE SET THE DATE.
you don't have to be a rocket scientist to get the gist. so i politely ask, "what are you two giggling about, back there?" and the subject was changed.
since that moment, she has VERY OBVIOUSLY walked around the office hiding her left hand from me.
my first gut reaction was... why am i left out of the fun?
now, i find it almost hysterical that she's working so hard to keep me in the dark. it's not like i'm anyone who matters. does she think i want her man? does she think i'm jealous? does she think i'll tell everyone? (the salesman is great at telling everyone your secrets... so he's got that covered.)
i'm just at a loss. i guess i'm not sophisticated enough to understand why i shouldn't know that my boss and his girlfriend are now engaged.

Your co-workers behavior is strange. Maybe she thinks you will feel bad that she is engaged and you and your SO are not engaged?
