Just got a great deal!

I've been considering taking my kids to Myrtle a Beach for spring break. The flights weren't that bad, but once I paid for luggage and to assign our seats it got pricey. I just checked again today and it was super cheap! We're going Sunday evening and get back Friday afternoon. I paid $336 for me and two kids. That was round trip, one bag checked (I'll pack us all together) and assigned seats both ways. I'm so pumped right now!

Wow that is GREAT!!! Is this on Spirit? I only ask because I just checked their prices the other day because I need to fly to MI this weekend to visit my dad who isn't doing well health wise. I couldn't believe how fast the "extras" added up, like the bag and assigned seat, and that the seats got cheaper the further back you were lol!

I was checking flights the other day and couldn't believe only Spirit flies there directly. I'm not doing a stopover for such a short flight.

Yes, Spirit. The base rate was only $70 round trip, per person. I had to pay $60 round trip for the luggage (I'll pack us all together) and an additional $66 for me to pick our seats. I chose the cheapest seats towards the back.

That's a great deal! When are you going? I am trying to go last week of June to before July 4th and for 3 tickets (me, DH, DS, DD will be a lap child) its nearly 1000- Base fare, not including seats, bags. Don't want to have to drive but it looks likely.

ETA Delta also goes there nonstop on the weekends in the summer but they wanted $454 pp. Chat Icon

American also has non stops too - but, they are about the same price as Delta.

Could you look into flying JetBlue to Charleston and driving up?

Delta and American fly non stop there during the summer on certain days but, it's $$$$$.

I hate being tied to Spirit. My husband told me that the airport charges huge fees to have planes land there so it's not attractive to many airlines.

That's what my DH said too. It's about supply and demand. I guess it makes sense for those other airlines to provide nonstop on weekend days cause that's when most people arrive and leave on their vacations. I was looking into during the week.

It's a little bit less but then I think Jet blue allows you to bring on bags so might be cheaper in the end. I guess I will see what DH wants to do. Thanks for the suggestion.

Jetblue no longer does free bags. You can upgrade to the next fare level to get a bag

You can still bring an overhead bag for free if you can manage that. I wish Spirit offered that, but they actually charge $35 fir overhead luggage and only $30 for a checked bag
