hospital claim-Empire NYSHIP
Hello
Did anyone w Empire NYS have to pay anything OOP (vaginal birth @ Winthrop )? The reason I ask is because I had my own room this time around and was wondering if it is going to be a problem. I happened to ask after my delivery and the nurse said the size/type of room has nothing to do with the insurance claim /coverage. I gave birth on 2/1 there was a light crowd so that had plenty of rooms.

My plan has a $200 co-pay regardless of room type. Each NYSHIP plan is different depending on location/Union/etc. all the details are on their website if you login.

I had my own room at Winthrop and got nothing.

This is NOT true for all plans-I have a $200 co-pay. My plan also has limits some others do not have- for example I was not covered for a breast pump because my particular plan is grandfathered.

I have empire nyship and paid nothing for either birth, my younger one's 8 day nicu stay, and got a breastpump through insurance as well.

I had no copay. I think they have a clause though that if you don't notify them by a certain point in pregnancy than there is a 200 copay.
