Mirena Postpartum: Repost from Parenting

I had Mirena put in 1/28 no spotting or anything. On 2/9 AF arrives a little early(days). Normally AF last about 5-6 days. I've been spotting ever since she "left". I haven't had functioning tubes in years so I only got the Mirena to help with crazy heavy periods but didn't expect to have to wear light tampons for days on end.

For those on Mirena how long was it before the spotting stopped all together? We're going away in a couple of months and just got my VS swimsuits delivered and hoping this spotting stops so I can wear them comfortably.

TIA

When I first got it I joked with dh that is effective birth control bc you have your period all the time. I spotted for weeks on end until it stopped almost completely.

I just got mine last month and it is so frustrating, days on end of bleeding, then it stops so you think you're good and then the next day it starts again. I am going for a check up next Wed and if this doesn't stop out it goes!

I got Mirena for the same reason - very heavy periods. When I first got it, it was on day 2 of AF, and it lightened up immediately, but then I spotted for about 3 weeks. It went away and nowsome months I get a very light 2 or 3 day period and some months, nothing. I am pretty happy with it. It definitely took some time to adjust, I'm about 7 months in and I feel like I am finally over the adjustment time. Hang in there - it's worth it.

Same for me.

I think the spotting lasted about 2 months in all and I've never gotten a period or even spotting again since and it's been almost a year.

Mirena Postpartum: Repost from Parenting

I've had it since my daughter was born 3 yrs ago. The first year, I spotted at the beginning and then nothing for about 6 months. Since then though, it's been non-stop spotting. Sometimes heavier, more AF like, but I basically spot all the time. My Dr said "some people are just bleeders." Great...
