Can anyone tell me about Kindergarten in Valley Stream School District 13?
Is all the kindergarten at Willow Rd? How are the teachers?
Class size, workload, expectations, any time for play?
Any other feedback...
Starting to think about whether to delay the start for my twins.
Also does anyone know if twins can be in the same class?

I can't answer all your questions, but I'm pretty sure there's Kindergarten at each of the elementary schools, not just Willow.

My parents neighbors live in the wheeler area. Bus picks up children for kindergarten on their block at 7:30 am and drops off around 2 :15 pm. What is yor home school?
I think there is kindergarten at all the schools except wheeler.

My experience is from almost 30 years ago, but I went to Wheeler growing up. Back then, (and I believe now still) each school had their own kindergarten.

They aren't. Either the kids that get picked up are students with special needs OR they go to private school. None of the elementary schools or the high school district has bussing.

I don't think that's true. This is the info I found on their website:
Transportation In-District
Bus service will be provided as follows:
Kindergarten through third grade: pupils residing one-half (1/2) mile or greater from the school they attend;
Fourth through sixth grades: pupils residing one (1) mile or greater from the school they attend.

My sister works in the district (teacher) and I could have sworn she always told me they don't have buses

There is bussing as explained by the PP depending on your distance from the school. Wheeler does not have kindergarten so those kids get bussed to Willow.

Thank you.. Yes.. My parents neighbors are in the wheeler area. They live far enough away that they are bussed to wheeler until 3rd grade

Twin placement is your choice now. Research and make your own choice. Some prefer together others prefer apart. there is a law stating it is your choice but not all districts seem to know it yet. I had to fight mine

Introduced by Sens. PADAVAN, JOHNSON, LARKIN, RATH -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Education
AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to permitting parents or guardians of twins or higher order multiples to request placement of such children in the same classroom or separate classrooms
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:
Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 3210-a to read as follows:
§ 3210-a. Classroom placement of twins or higher order multiples. 1. A parent or guardian of twins or higher order multiples may request that the children be placed in the same classroom or in separate classrooms if the children are in the same grade level at the same school. The school may recommend classroom placement to the parents and provide professional education advice to the parents to assist them in making the best decision for their children's education. A school must provide the placement requested by the children's parent or guardian, unless the school board makes a classroom placement determination following the school principal's request according to this section. The parent or guardian must request the classroom placement no later than fourteen (14) days after the first day of each school year or fourteen days after the first day of attendance of the children during a school year if the children are enrolled in the school after the school year commences.
2. At the end of the initial grading period, if the school principal, in consultation with the children's classroom teacher, determines that
the requested classroom placement is disruptive to the school, the
school principal may request that the school board determine the children's classroom placement.
3. For purposes of this section, "higher order multiples" means triplets, quadruplets, quintuplets, or more.
EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
