My newborn slept better in the hospital....
Just came home with DD yesterday and last night was horrible. I would feed her and put jer down and she would cry. This got slightly better after 1am but at that point she would eat feom one side and then I couldn't get her to wake up for the other side but she would wake up about 45 min later to eat again but I'd only get her to eat from 1 side. In the hospital I was able to feed her every 3 hours for the most part. I'm hoping last night doesn't repeat itself but any suggestions would be appreciated

I can't help you on the sleep thing - I think it's just newborns...they are unpredictable. But, my 6 week old as always only eaten from one side at a time. I use an app to keep track of what side she last fed on so I know which one to put her on next. Good luck and congrats!!!

Honestly, at this stage, there isn't much you can do. Newborns are TOUGH! I think they all sleep more in the hospital bc they had a rough day, you know, being born and all ;) They are exhausted from the trip.
Do you swaddle? I lived on a swaddle and a little bear that played "womb" sounds. I would put it in the bassinet by their feet. Soothed them.

Each day with a newborn will be different then the day before. You have to learn to roll with it. They are growing and learning and developing so much everyday that it's 99% out of your control.

Sounds typical. She's just a tiny baby. There's no predictability at that age.

That's what I thought so thank you for reminding me that things are going to change every day. This is my 2nd but 3 years have passed so I think I blocked these days out of my head

My newborn slept better in the hospital....
For the first 6 weeks, I slept 1-3 hours a night with a 30 min map midday. It's rough, but it'll get better.

Definitely take it day by day at this point. She may have been really sleepy those first few days. I did learn with dd2 that she wouldn't take both sides at night either so I learned it was best to change her first and then feed her and swaddle tight to get her right back down as fast as possible. We use white noise and very dim lighting too which helped.

My son is 3 months old and that sounds exactly like him in the beginning. Baby wearing and constant nursing were my life. He just needed those snuggles and ate every hour and would fall asleep. I would have to keep waking him up. It was exhausting. The first six weeks are so tough! Hang in there Momma!
