Tipping for kid's ski lessons
I signed up my two kids for three days of group ski/snowboarding lessons. What would you normally tip? Should I tip at the end of each class or at the end of the three classes? TIA!!

Tipping for kid's ski lessons
Not sure if it's different now, but I'm pretty sure my parents never tipped after my brother and I took lessons.

No tipping. You're paying for a lesson. Our tipping is out of freaking control.

Re: Tipping for kid's ski lessons
I have had my kids in ski school and private lessons numerous times and I have never tipped. I'm already paying a ridiculous amount of money for what they're getting.

I agree but last year at camelback (we are at okemo this time) the instructor at the end said he would gladly accept tips. We were scrambling to get change the last few minutes of the class. Maybe I'll just avoid the tip this time.

We go to okemo. Sometimes I see parents tip, sometimes not. I don't usually tip unless it was a private.

I teach private swim lessons and never got a tip. For a group lesson, I might give $5-10 gift card to DD or Starbucks.
Is this like you're going on vacation and getting lessons or weekly lessons? For vacation lessons, it wouldn't occur to me to tip. For weekly lessons, I'd tip.

Re: Tipping for kid's ski lessons
We were skiing over NYE weekend in VT and my older son was in a group lesson, that ended up being a private one b/c noone else showed up. The instructor he had was SUCH a great guy and my son LOVED him so much he begged for him in the next lesson - so I tipped him $25 - It' must not be the norm b/c he kid was shocked and very appreciative.

Re: Tipping for kid's ski lessons
I dont understand these posts. People tip the landscaper, garbage men, postal carries, teacher, piano teachers, and speech pathologist etc, but no tipping for ski lessons. how are these lessons different?????
I agree no tipping is needed for this or any of the above situations as you are paying for the lessons. BUT for all the other situations mentioned people are paying $$$$ for services as well but tip out the A$$

Re: Tipping for kid's ski lessons
We haven't tipped. Especially not for group lessons. Lessons are very expensive and it's my understanding that instructors get paid well.
If we were doing private lessons with the same instructor for the entire season I would probably tip that instructor at the end of the season if we were very happy with them.
