What does your 3 year old learn in school?
We will be sending DS to preschool in September. He'll turn 4 in October but will be in the 3 year old class as he won't be old enough for the 4 year old class when school starts. What does your LO learn in school at 3 years old?

What does your 3 year old learn in school?
Each week her preschool had a different theme associated with the letter or color of that week. So they learn the letters, colors, name recognition, shapes, songs, etc. they also do art projects.

In my dd's class they know colors, shapes, they are going over the letters of the alphabet and numbers. They also do motor skills like cutting play doh with safety scissors, threading beads on pipe cleaners and other arts and craft projects. They are now learning how to hold a crayon correctly and write their names. Also, there is the basics of sitting still, waiting your turn, and sharing.

why wouldn't he qualify for the 4 year old program. wouldn't he being starting kindergarten after this one year in preschool?
my DS next year will be starting the preschool program and he will only be 2 because his birthday isn't till November.
to answer your question my DD when she was in the 3 year olds by the time she left she knew the whole out fit numbers had about 15 sight words, shapes, colors but I know that her teacher taught more than needed.

What does your 3 year old learn in school?
They do a letter a week although they also touch on the whole alphabet too. They work on recognizing, writing, and the sound of the letters. Writing her name, cutting a little, numbers and counting, holidays and seasons, social skills. They recently started sight words too. This is 2 half days a week.

In my dd 3 year old class they have theme for each week. Each week will focus on theme and their crafts and activities will be related to the theme. For example last week was winter. They made snowman, painted a winter scene, the teacher filled a large tub with snow and the kids watched what happened to it indoors, the learned a song about ice skating and read lots of winter books.
Everyday they work on learning the name of the months, shapes, colors, name recognization, counting, one on one correlation, alphabet.

Are you sure he can't start the 4 year old class? My dd also turns 4 in October, and she will be starting pre-k through our school district. I believe the cut off to be old enough is December 1st.

I will double check but I'm pretty sure the cut off is August for this school.
He should be in a pre K class not a 3 year old class. They will be run very differently. Pre k will focus on being ready for K. My son is a second baby and still started pre K last sept.
If they won't let him in the pre k class I will look into a different school.

My son works on similar things (but, he's in full time daycare/nursery school).
