Jetblue - didn't pick seats, waited too long...
Been so busy and put off picking out our plane seats. Logged on today and saw that all spots were marked as taken, except for 2 seats that weren't together.
Of course, the $30/each extra room seats were available.
I called and they said I could just pay for the $30 seats and see if there are any seats available together the day of the flight (and then they would refund me), but they can't guarantee anything.
Lesson learned.
Anyway - does anyone have any experience with this? Were there any seats available that were together?
I'm mad at myself.

I always buy the extra leg room seats. If I were in your situation, I'd buy the extra leg room seats to guarantee you're together. See what happens day of. Sometimes seats are blocked out for people with disabilities and they unblock them the day of
Plus people might be willing to switch with you so you're together

Oh and I'd def pick a seat assignment regardless. Any seat assignment. Flights are overbooked and if you don't have a seat assignment you're likely to get bumped

Yes I already bought the extra leg room seats for both ways, just in case. I rather have them than not.
Just hoping maybe something becomes available
Do you find the extra legroom seats worth it, anyway?

I like them. I do notice a diff in space, plus you have reserved overhead space, board early and you're in the front of the plane so you get out faster.

I always thought you have to pick seats when you book.

Good to know. Thanks! I'm in the extra leg room section that's also the emergency aisle.

LOL I meant with JB. I never fly anything else. I just thought it was a screen you go through when you book in order to complete your purchase.

We have been on a few flights that didn't have seats together since I'm always last minute Lucy booking things. With that said, I never upgrade. I just get seats assigned at check in. We have never had an issue. They usually upgrade others with some sort of flight status to the "nicer" seats, and give us seats together in the "regular" section.

There was but the prompt was like "would you like to pick your seats now?" or you could skip it and do it later.
I usually only fly jet blue too - they are my favorite :)

Hmm so you think I could land us two seats together? I sure hope I can. It's a busy week. More leg room would be divine but being its such a short flight, I can live. It came to $120 round trip for the extra leg room .. Rather spend that elsewhere on vacation, ya know

I had this happen where two seats weren't together. We had hoped when checking in we could find two together but no such luck.

Most definitely. My legs are long and I like being able to stretch them out and also not have the seat in front of me in my lap. You also get to board first, which means you get to the overhead bins first.

Not sure if it happens on JetBlue but, usually seats open up around check in time on most airlines.

100% I always get the extra leg room seats. Of course, my DH is 6'8" so it's kind of necessary.

We booked a trip last minute over the summer and there weren't seats together. We checked in at the desk, and the agent goes - oh they dont have you sitting together, and changed our seats. We didn't even have to ask!

I personally wouldn't have paid to upgrade, I would take my chances. Are you two adults traveling? If so, I wouldn't be concerned about being separated. I always travel solo with my 2 kids, and they don't separate us, since no one wants to sit next to a child with special needs (he can't sit alone anyway), and an unattended 8 year old LOL

Re: Jetblue - didn't pick seats, waited too long...
I've only traveled JB one so far ( & now feel like I can't ever stray again!) which was last month. I selected 3 seats in a row. Then while entering our info at Expedia, I spelled my son's name wrong & while correcting it I somehow hit submit because I'm that kind of special. While correcting it, the Expedia agent somehow canceled all 3 of us & when they corrected it, my son was sitting alone rows away. At check-in, the JB agent fixed it so I was on one side of the aisle & my 2 kids were just next to me. However, they did say that they only did that for me because I was traveling with minors.
On other airlines, I've been stuck sitting away from a traveling companion as it was a last minute re-book after a hurricane canceled a flight home. I've also witnessed more than one occasion where the plane ended up not being full & passengers kindly switched seats to allow companions to sit together. So luck of the draw most likely.

I never pay for the extra legroom seat. When you get the airport 90% of the time you can snag the extra legroom seats for free at check-in. Otherwise, as long as they aren't two middle seats someone will def trade. Ask the gate agent.
