Newborn feeding schedule
For formula-fed babies, when did your dc stretch out to 4-hour eating intervals? We are still at every 3 hours like clockwork (with maybe one 4-hour stretch at night).

Re: Newborn feeding schedule
DS1 was formula fed. I don't remember exactly when it happened, but I do remember that it happened gradually. The same thing with the number of bottles he'd drink in a 24 hr period.

Re: Newborn feeding schedule
With DS, never. He ate every 3-3.5 hours until he started solids, and only then did he start to stretch longer. But he STTN at 11 weeks so he dropped a few bottles then.
With DD, she was on 4 hour intervals almost from the start. And even then, I had to remember to feed her b/c she hated (still does) bottles and would rarely cry for one.

Re: Newborn feeding schedule
I want to say by 12 weeks I was able to get every 4 hours. but I had both of my DC on a schedule. I woke them up during the day at the beginning every 3 hours to eat 9of course if it was before 3 hours I would feed them) and then at night let them go until they woke up. I cant remember how but I slowly just stated to push the length longer.
my dr also always told me to add an extra 1 oz ( I think I only did a half though) more then what they are drinking so I knew when to up, which was when they finished the whole bottle a few times.

Newborn feeding schedule
Never really. She pretty much sleeps through the night but during the day, she's usually ready to eat every 3 hours. Once she starts getting hungrier earlier, I up the # of ounces.

Newborn feeding schedule
DD will be 8 weeks tomorrow and takes about 4.5oz every 3 hours. Sometimes she'll go a 4 hour stretch in the middle of the night.

Re: Newborn feeding schedule
Thanks everyone, she wakes up and screams for food every 3 hours and eats about 3 of the offered 4 ounces. She's 5 weeks old. I just remember my dd1 being closer to 4 hours at this point...

Re: Newborn feeding schedule
I WISH I could get my almost 4 week old to even go 3 hours! Since the moment he arrived, he screams for a bottle EVERY 2 hours. I've even gradually started giving him more at each feeding and he's still not going any longer in between. If you find the secret...let me know!!!
