Any ideas on what is wrong with my tooth?
I had a deep cavity on a molar in September. It wasn't done by my usual dentist, she passed me off to a new one who looked like she was right out of school.
Since then, I've felt like my tooth is raised above the others when I bite done-I feel like I'm biting down hard right onto it even when I take small bites or just close my mouth. It's not all the time, though. My original dentist checked the bite in December when I went back, and she said it's okay.
It's sensitive to cold, but my original dentist said that's because of how deep the cavity is and how close to the nerve it is.
The new dentist wanted to redo the filling. I went to the original dentist for a second opinion and she said she wouldn't touch it-eventually it will need a root canal but not right now.
What concerns me is the bite and the fact that the gum between this tooth and another one where part of the filling is bleeds when I floss it. If I floss at night and it bleeds, it still bleeds the next day sometimes when I brush my teeth. The dentist said she's not concerned with it bleeding because it's not inflamed.
I'm thinking of going back because the issue doesn't feel resolved. Any guesses?

I really don't know, but my best guess is that the filling is too high. I would say the bite is off. My dentist usually doesn't let me go until I say the bite test is perfect. I would go back , maybe to a totally new dental practice. Good luck!

Probably is too high. My dentist used to shave it down, then ask if ok, shave it down some more, and more, and more. I didn't really like that dentist though, so maybe he globbed in too much stuff. If it's really sensitive, you might consider an inlay or onlay next time you need the filling redone. I have one of those, can't remember the difference, for the last 10 years in a tooth that had the filling redone many times and had started out as a silver one, so it was huge.

it does sound like the bite is too high.
the gum bleeding is probably a seperate issue. or maybe the start of gingivitis. if its in the area maybe the gum is still irritated from the work. did you get an injection in that area? I know I had gum sensitivity for a while after getting an injection.
last time i had a filling on my top back molar that was pretty deep, the resin fillings always feel rough and funny for a few days.
but i think its time to find a new dentist.

Def sounds high. Go back bc you can crack the whole tooth
It will be sensitive to cold for a bit, normal with a large filling.
If hot bothers it,root most likely dying

this happened to me twice. on 2 separate molars. the fillings were so large and i started having sensitivity in both molars. when i went to have them checked they told me that realistically, they could fix the cavities, but they would need root canals anyway. I've had to deal with root canal pain before and i wouldn't wish that kind of pain on my worst enemy, so i had the root canals done before they started to hurt. best decision ever.
