Mommy & Me
What exactly do you do there? I'm up int he air between mommy & me and a tumble class at a local rec center . I'm honestly looking for something more for HIM rather than for me. I want him to be able to run around and play with other children his age.....he LOVES other kids!

Re: Mommy & Me
bumped b/c I have some questions as well! (Hope you don't mind Betty)
When do you start Mommy & Me classes? When DC is how old?
and how do you go about finding a group?

Re: Mommy & Me
I know it gets really confusing but here is what I can offer as an explanation.
I went when Jacob was 8 weeks old to a New Mommy and me where I met all new mommies who were having there first child and it was a like a therapy session where you can complain and discuss matters that other new mommies are going through. This was more for me than Jacob.
Mommy and me classes usually start at 14 months ( some before) and it is a class where they have a little structure since they will be starting to walk and such-- so they might have play time, music, make an arts and craft, have a snack.. Sort of like getting them ready for toddler programs at 2...
For me, I will be doing a mommy in me in the spring which leads to a separation class in the summer which leads to Jacob going to a toddle program next fall..
right now, I do a gym class and a music class. I like the gym because he gets to run around and now that he has just started to walk that is all that he wants to do.. In the winter I will be a doing a mommy and me, gym and possibly music again..
My suggestion to you is that you should do the Tumbling class now, and then when he gets a little older do a mommy and me
Any other qustions ask away...
Oh and I researched this all online before he was born and started calling places to see what was available. Look at your pennysavers and such in your neighborhood, I knew the Y gave many classes for early childhood. It was very important to me that Jacob interact with children his age.You can find gym classes that start at 3 months but I know Gymboree starts earlier...
Hope this clarifies things for you

Re: Mommy & Me
i go to mommy and me with spencer. he's 11 months. the first half hour is free play. they put out all the toys and the babies are able to do whatever they want. then it's music time. the instructor at my place brings out her guitar and sings, uses props, we dance, and laugh... it's pretty comical.. then we have snack time for like 15 minutes. then more structured play and usually end with parachute play. it's pretty fun and nice to talk to all the moms there!!

Re: Mommy & Me
I think the term "mommy and me" is used for every single thing involving children and their mommies and every "mommy and me" out there, claims to be "the original" or the REAL mommy and me. its just "a name" to sound like its cool. so there's really no set "definition" of what mommy and me IS, does that make sense? (maybe thats why no one answered )
You can get out there with your baby at any age. I was out and about since my first was about 3m old. You can meet mommy groups and do activities at church, libraries and numerous online mommy groups. and then all the gym, music, gymobree, Ys and all other mommy n me type places. some are more structured than others. Depending on the kids ages, as they get older, they have "separation" where mommy goes in another room, etc.
It really depends on what youre looking for.
