Bottles, breastfeeding supplies , storage bags for milk
Did you buy all of these things before baby was born? Or did you wait to see how Breast feeding went before purchasing?

I don't know if this is still the case but in the past whenever I bought boxes of lansinoh pads they would come with a small pack of bags. I would but the pads, a few bottles and a few soft nursing bras. Everything else can wait imo. Nursing is pretty low maintenance in terms of supplies and pumping can wait several weeks so you can always get stuff for that later when you need it.

I got a pump beforehand free through insurance and got bottles (which could have been used for formula too if i needed). the pump came with starter supplies and i think i also got nipple cream, breast pads and storage bags (all lansinoh) before baby was born.
other things i bought while pregnant were nursing tanks and nursing sleeping bras (basically a thin sports bra type thing that was easily moved to nurse, comfortable to sleep in and held breastpads in place). i probably kept the tags on and receipts just in case i didn't use them once baby came.
just buy what you need but keep the receipts and don't open until you need to use it. return whatever you don't need later on.

I'd buy one package of bags and a box of pads. You don't have to open them. I had an oversupply from the get go and had to pump immediately. I went through so many pads and bags early on. But honestly, you run out to CVS for pads if you need them and pump into bottles of you needed to for a few days.

With DD1 I think I had one box of each that someone had bought me for my shower. I ended up having an oversupply and literally went through hundreds of bags and nursing pads. With this pregnancy I've stocked up on pads and bags with the assumption I'm going to have the same supply - I just won't open them until I need them, so I can always return them.

Re: Bottles, breastfeeding supplies , storage bags for milk
Before DS was born I bought all my breastfeeding supplies but did not open anything except nipple cream and nipple pads until I knew I would be sticking with BF.
Bottles I bought two types, only opened one type. He took to the first bottle we tried so I returned the others.
I preferred having everything at my finger tips in my house that i thought I would need,m and just returned everything I didn't use.

I bought everything ahead of time with my registry completion coupon. I figured if anything, I can always return it.

Bottles, breastfeeding supplies , storage bags for milk
Do not go crazy with buying supplies. I had a million pads and barely used them as my DS nursed 24/7 so I never had a chance to get full enough to leak.
As for bags, I used target brand and lanisoh. The Medela ones I did not like.
For bottles, I bought ones that were compatible with my pump. DS was not picky and stank out of those fine.

Re: Bottles, breastfeeding supplies , storage bags for milk
The pump I got through insurance before each baby was born.. it came with the supplies & bottles, which I ended up buying more of later on. Bags I bought when DS was a few weeks old & I started to have enough to freeze. I never bought nursing bras for DS1, but I bought a few before DS2 was born because I was hoping to BF more than pump. I never bought nipple cream, but I bought a box of breast pads right after my older ds was born because I was leaking like crazy. For my younger ds I had some left over so I just used those.

I got a 32 pack of pads, maybe 6 bags and ointment. I planned to do some bottles, but DD was all about BFing and never adapted to bottles. I think it's best to get a small reserve of what you intend to need and see how things go from there.

Re: Bottles, breastfeeding supplies , storage bags for milk
With DS I bought everything ahead of time and he refused to BF. Since it was unopened I returned it to BBB.
Not wanting to make the same mistake, I didn't buy anything with DD. She immediately took to BFing. A couple of days after she was born we took a trip to BRU and I got what I needed.
Bottom line- can't go wrong either way!
