Party invite protocol?

DS is turning 6 in a few weeks and I'm wondering whether to invite this one kid or not. He was with him in camp and knows him from another friend. They only play together bc of the other kid. Since they were in camp together - DS was invited to his summer bday party. This kid is not in DS' kindergarten class, but they will be in camp again together in summer I'm sure and therefore he will probably be invited again. I have to invite him, right?

If they are friendly and it's not too expensive, I would!

Well, he doesn't really like the kid that much - only b/c he plays with his other friend. I have limited space at party - is it bad if I wait and see space and then invite? Chat Icon

Hmm I guess it would depend on why he doesn't like the kid. If it's because the other kid is rude/aggressive then I think it should be up to the birthday boy. If it's something more like he's "weird" or "different" then I might encourage him to invite the kid to be nice... but in the end, leave it up to him.

I wouldn't invite him - if you have limited space, your son doesn't like him and they aren't in school together, why should you?

Re: Party invite protocol?

If they see each other now because of playdates with the mutual friend I would just invite him. But if you haven't seen him since camp and don't intend to see him until camp, then I wouldn't bother.

I would just invite. Again i agree with a previous poster that as long as hes nice to your son and not rude or aggressive then i would. Its 1 more person not 10 even with limited space...
