Tips for transition to toddler bed?
DS won't go near it. We tried moving him once he fell asleep and he woke up crying. He won't even lay in it.
Any tips or tricks?

Tips for transition to toddler bed?
Is he climbing out of his crib? Just curious why you'd want to transition him to a bed?
I'm keeping dd1 in as long as possible lol. She's 2 1/2.

One night he completely decided he never wanted to go in his crib ever again.
I think his room is haunted. Seriously.

If he refuses to sleep in the crib AND toddler bed, my guess is it's less about location and more about something else... Maybe separation anxiety? A fear of being alone? Fear of the dark?

The only place he sleeps now is our bed...I don't think it's the dark, maybe it's separation anxiety.
I don't necessarily mind him being in our bed but it's definitely a bit inconvenient at times. I can't do anything in the room once he's gone to bed, he's an insane sleep kicker, plus DH and I would like some quite time
ETA: I'm about to put our (very expensive brand new) bed in his room and buy ourselves a new one, I wonder if he just prefers that bed to anything else now.

Tips for transition to toddler bed?
How old is he? Will he take naps in it? Does he go to daycare where they use cribs or cots? My DDs daycare switched from cribs to cots and we wanted to keep it consistent so we switched to the Toddler bed at home. For the most part she did great but if she woke up crying and wanted to get out we kept putting her back in over, and over and over. Eventually she got the hint. LOL

He might prefer a big bed as opposed to a toddler bed. Can you ask him why he doesn't like the toddler bed? How old is he?

He's 27 months - slept perfectly fine, naps and all, in the crib. Then literally wanted nothing else to do with it. There was an incident one night where he climbed out (which he had NEVER done before) and maybe he got scared of it after that.

Tips for transition to toddler bed?
maybe hes ready for a regular bed. I skipped the toddler bed went straight to a full size bed (thats what my dd crib transitioned to) and put on guard rails. She used to sleep like a champ and then we started having issues with the crib, she never climbed out, but she just seemed uncomfortable in it. And we went away she slept amazing in a reg bed at the hotel so when we got home we transitioned her. She was 3 at the time. But I have friends that went straight to a regular bed at 2, 2.5. Maybe do a full size or twin size bed with guard rails.

Re: Tips for transition to toddler bed?
I have heard a couple of my friends reference similar behaviors from their children after being able to sleep with their parents. It's a tough habit to break.

Re: Tips for transition to toddler bed?
A little after my DS turned 2 we had to move him into a bed because he kept climbing out of his crib. We transitioned him right into a full size bed (put up rails) but we did have to lay with him for a while until he fell asleep... after a while he had no problem sleeping by himself.

Tips for transition to toddler bed?
DD started sleeping in our bed right around the time she turned 2. It lasted for a few months and then we decided it was time for her to get a twin bed. She loves her bed now, but I actually have to lay down with her until she falls asleep. Once I leave her though she stays asleep all night on her own.
