Did you check out BEST Learning Center? It does run more on a "school schedule" with weeks off during breaks, but they do have a summer program for most of the time. My cousins kids went there and my nephew goes there now. They all said the pre-k program is awesome and well worth it. They have extended hours for working parents.
I did. Seems like a great program, scholastically. And I liked the facility. The tuition was cheaper than his current place -- BUT the before and aftercare was so expensive that it ended up being $400 a month MORE in total than where he is now. So, I love where he is -- I would only be changing if I felt the place was just as good but cost less money so this didn't pay for me. They are also closed most holidays -- like, they close down right before Christmas through after New Year's and that just won't work with my schedule. I think BEST is ideal for a teacher's schedule.

I liked BEST but it was a problem with their schedule- they were off for the whole summer and then only offered camp which was $$$, even that did not encompass the whole summer break. I also did not love their playground, IMHO Ivy has a much better outdoor space

Yeah there's no doubt about that --- I mean, they have sixteen acres. It is crazy. He absolutely loves it.

My son is in Kiddie Academy of Bethpage and has been since 12 weeks. He just moved into the 3 year old room this week and they have a pre school curriculum they follow. So far, he is tracing letters, identifying letters, learning words that they start with, etc. It's only been a week so i have more to see! But I have been impressed so far.
We pay $275 per week, full time. Which is up to 9 hours a day. well we actually pay less but that is only cause we get a sibling discount on him since we have both of our sons there!
They still play, they have playground/gym time. They do circle time every day and sing songs. I think they learn in a fun way and then also have times where they sit with their pencils and notebooks, do art projects, etc.

It is A LOT.
And I feel there is a "need" or a "void" for certain programs. Like, there's either the centers that are known as kind of a "chain" place or there are the private ones which have completely inadequate hours for those who work full time.
And then it is rare that you find one in the middle -- private feel with appropriate hours.
Have I mentioned that I'm counting down the days until kindergarten?? LOL!

I'm a teacher and I still have issues with the hours. Ideally, when the time comes, I would like 2 full days for her at age 3, and then 5 full days at age 4

Thank you for this post... Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one asking how people who work do these programs. There is a big gap for the working population!

That is exactly why we chose our center from the start. I wanted one place...no moving her, no bouncing around. And their pre k program was top notch. She was more than prepared for K. And I never had to worry about hours

Daycare/Preschool for 3/4 YO's Specifically:
Yea, BEST seems better for a teachers schedule. We live in FL and go to a school that follows the school calendar, but has daycare open during breaks when the "day school" is closed. We just started this year in their 1 year old room, day school "preschool" is 9-12 with before care starting at 7 and aftercare until 5:30. I have many friends who use our school and definitely good to get recommendations from people. We pay $850 for full time care a month and my son couldn't be happier. It drops to $740 a month for ages 2 and up. We are 2 teachers who don't make a NY salary, so it's expensive for us, relative cost in the end probably equals out.

Re: Daycare/Preschool for 3/4 YO's Specifically:
Don't know where you are located, but both of my older children attended JKL montessori in Commack. It provided the early hours I needed (I did 7:30 - 4:30) and it was both day care and pre-school. most of the parents seemed to be teachers, but they were also open during the summer, off one week at the end of August. DD was more than prepared for kindergarten- she started there at 8 months and went through until kindergarten. DS started there at 4 months. DS I had to pull out at 3 because he needed a special education program that they could not provide. i don't want to give you a price because my kids have not been there in over a year so I am sure it has changed some and mine was based on 2 kids.
Feel feel to FM if you have any questions.
