solids - fruits and veggies

We started DS2 on oatmeal then veggies just after 4 months . He was just ehh on the carrots and sweet potatoes, eating some, spitting out some. The oatmeal made him super constipated, like up all night screaming in pain and terrible gassy. So against what i planned, i gave him a fruit to try and help move things along and we stopped oatmeal all together.

now we have done apples and peaches and he loves them, but will spit out and refuse carrots and sweet potatoes. Did this happen to anyone else? Did they finally come around and eat veggies? I don't know what to even give him and offer from here. Do i just go with fruit? Do i keep trying? do i keep doing fruit one meal and keep trying veggies the other one? do i just offer veggies?

With DS1 we successfully did veggies first and he loved them except for the green ones. This stinks!

He was 5 months on 12/31.

you can give any fruit or veggie. I would still give the ones he spits out. my DS hated peas but we still gave. heck he hated most foods for a while.

DS ate everything we gave him.

DD spit a lot of the veggies out at first, even gagged on peas, but after a few tries, she started eating them.

I would just keep trying and not stress about it too much. Try different veggies and try mixing them in with the fruits. My older dd preferred veggie purees over fruits most times. My younger one wasn't thrilled with any purees but is very adventurous with table food and eats more veggies than my 3yo now so it all worked out.

There were foods he would make faces at and spit out and then, after several tries, ended up loving them...

You could also take a fruit he loves (like apples) and mix some carrots or sweet potatoes or any veggie in with it... So he gets the taste of the apple that he loves with some carrot or veggie -- and then, as time goes on, he will get more used to that taste. You can start off with just a little veggie and then increase the amount you mix in. That worked well for me when trying to get DS used to new tastes.
