Anyone ever been to Assateague State Park in MD?
Thinking of camping there this summer with the kids. I wanted to hear first hand experiences regarding the wild horses.

Anyone ever been to Assateague State Park in MD?
I was there years ago, just to drive through, we didnt camp there. It was nice....interesting to see the horses just grazing etc. We drove around the park and then stopped at the beach for a few minutes (it was cold while we were there). But if the weather was nicer we would have stayed longer to watch the horses.

We went there to visit, not to go camping.
The horses travel in herds around the park depending on the weather and the time of day. I think it was on tripadvisor where they said that the horses wake up the campers really early in the morning with all their whinnying  But it would seem like a nice place to go camping.

We went last year but it started raining during our boat tour. We have friends who enjoyed camping there.
I personally thought it was a bit anticlimactic. We saw the horses from afar so the kids barely got to see the horses.
