3D/4D Ultrasounds
I don't really know much about these, but I see that many of you have your pics posted from them. I have a friend that lives in Vegas that did it and she said it was an hour long and they got a video with it at the end, along with pics. Is this how they do it here?
Some questions: 1. How soon can you get them? 2. Where did you go? 3. What is the average cost? 4. What does the cost include?
TIA!!!

Re: 3D/4D Ultrasounds
I got lucky. Im only 11wks and at my 9wk sono, she offered to do a 3d sono (see in my community album) even though it wasnt too clear. Free of Charge!!
Apparently they have the machine there and its just done. I probably will get one again for the next sono on Mon as well as the others to come. Its pretty cool.

Re: 3D/4D Ultrasounds
That is GREAT! Well thanks for the info...your little peanut is adorable! I really want to get this done because my Level II is probably when they are going to tell me the sex and my DH cannot be there for the appointment. So I wanted to go before that and get a 3D ultrasound.

That is what ahppened with me, when I went for my 10 week sono, she showed me the screen and it was in 3d, I did not even have to ask

Thank you! Just wanted to add that I would ask to see if they have a 3d Sono machine and if there is an addtional cost.
Like I said, they offered it to me so therefore it was FREE

Re: 3D/4D Ultrasounds
My Dr. does not reccomend getting them until the third trimester. It's not a safety issue or anything, it's just that if you get it done earlier your baby still looks like a little alien. Once you're in the third trimester they're starting to fatten up and you get more of an idea what your baby will actually look like. Plus they're pricey. They usually run from $300-400. For that much money I want to see a cute little face, not a bony little skeleton.

Re: 3D/4D Ultrasounds
I agree with what Nicole posted. My doctor did not have a 3d/4d sono in their office, but I had the sono done out of pocket on my own at 30 weeks. The place I went actually did not recommend having it done before 28 wks or so, mainly because the baby looks more like a 'baby' at that point and the face pictures are more detailed, etc. To answer some of your other questions:

Some questions: 1. How soon can you get them? it depends on where you go, but as I said if you are paying yourself, I would wait until you are in your 3rd trimester (JMO)
2. Where did you go? I went to Envision Ultrasound in Brooklyn. They also have an office in NJ. Here is a link to their website: Envision - Link
3. What is the average cost? Envision had many different packages, ranging from $100-300.
4. What does the cost include? Again, the website has more details but I can tell you what we got. We paid around $275 for the 3d/4d ultrasound. That included a TON of pics (at least 60) all put onto CD as well as about 10 pictures printed for us right there. We also got the DVD of the entire session which was set to music. Its great to see the baby moving around, yawning, sucking his/her thumb ... I highly recommend the DVD. We also got some other perks included with the package, a free membership to a baby website to create a webpage, etc.
There are a ton of pictures in my community album from the sono, (if you click on my profile you'll see the album) and there is a pic in my avatar of the little guy.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I would do the 3d/4d sono again in a heartbeat, it was a great experience
HTH!
