New neighbor welcome gift - WDYT?
We have new neighbors that will be moving in in a week or two and I wanted to get them a little something.
What do you think of a basket with a bottle of wine (or champagne) and a bunch of takeout menus from different restaurants around the area?
Any thoughts or other suggestions?

I personally wouldn't do alcohol. The basket is nice though and maybe a small gift card to a local restaurant

We brought a bottle of wine to or neighbors when they moved in and now we are the bestest of friends, both of them! We all hang out all the time!
Its just a gesture, even if they don't drink, someone will drink ( I came from a family with parents who didn't drink and they still served to company). I think adding the take out menus is a great idea!

I think that's a great idea. Even if they aren't drinkers, they can always give it to someone else.

great idea. When a friend of mine moved to my area, I collected a bunch of takeout menus for her - she LOVED having those to give her some idea of where to go. A bottle of wine along with it is very nice. Like others have said, even if they don't drink, they will most likely use it

The menus is a pretty original idea! I'll be happy with a basket of homemade cookies though

That's very thoughtful of you (wish any of our neighbors had done that when we moved in) and I love the idea. Agreed that even if they don't drink they can always serve it to others or regift. I think champagne is perfect since its a celebratory event.

When we moved in our neighbor gave us take out menus!!! Best , most awesome thing they could have done!! Terrific idea

Take out menus sounds so great and a bottle of wine is nice too
I generally don't eat strangers homemade foods I'm a germaphobe
You could do a pretty candle if no wine
Also maybe include local dry cleaners, local supermarket, local emergency vet if they have an animal...

I agree! If anyone moves in by us going forward I would give a bottle of wine or champagne for sure.

Our neighbors brought us baked goods.
I would have appreciated delivery menus. I don't think our neighbors get much delivery though. Only we do!

When we moved in my fav thing we got was a list of all the good take out places
Their mechanic,the place she got her hair done,lawn service etc

I would do a little basket with champagne, a nice scented candle, and a bunch of the take-out menus from the area tied in a ribbon. That will look so nice and be very thoughtful. They'll appreciate it!

We just moved into a new neighborhood and one neighbor gave us a potted mum, another gave us a Poinsettia, and a third gave us a bottle of wine. All were greatly appreciated. I would have LOVED take out menus though - that's a fantastic idea!

Yep! If not drinkers, they'd have it on hand for someone that comes over for well-wishes that does.
