What to do with half empty Sternos?

Can I save them and reuse them or do I have to throw them out?

You can definitely reuse. Just cover them tightly and store in a safe place

Cover tightly. We sometimes combine a few if they are almost empty.

Yeah, the lid is gone. It isn't a sterno exactly, but it's the same gel substance. Sorry that wasn't clear. Like this:

I have a metal cover that fits over it, so I did that and then wrapped it in plastic wrap. I need it for Thursday night again and it was barely used. I was afraid it would combust or something after one use. It should be fine, right?

Yes it should be fine. It's pretty stable fuel - just store it away from any flames.
You are using it soon so it's not like you have to store it for months on end
