I teach in nyc and write a thank you for each gift and send it home usually the same day.
My sons teacher sent home a note thanking for the class gift and the. Another thank you for the gift we gave her separate from that.

I did get 2 gifts on Wednesday and didn't have time to write any notes out. I didn't see the parents at pickup, but if I did I would have absolutely given a verbal thank you and then sent a note home on Monday.
