Thank you to the volunteer in the NICU
Thank you to the stranger in the NICU
My daughter spent 11 days in the SB NICU, and was given a blanket... definitely one of the best holiday presents ever.

Re: Thank you to the volunteer in the NICU
Omg. This made me cry. One of my twins had to stay in the NICU for his first 24 hours and it was awful. I felt so bad crying in there when there so many babies with serous issues. He had a little green knit hat from the volunteers. It was beautiful and I still cherish it and when I look at it, it's so tiny I can't believe it ever fit on his head.

My daughter also spent time in SB NICU and she received a knit blanket and a few hats. What a nice read bringing back some emotions! Thanks for sharing!

DD spent 8 days in the sb nicu. It's amazing how a few words about the noises in there can take you right back. We just celebrated DD's first birthday and it's already hard to look at her and believe she started off so tiny and sick. We have several hats and a pair of booties. I remember my favorite nurse would even go out of her way to find a hat to match dd's outfit each day. They're some of the only physical things we have to remind us of those days.
I also have to turn around and thank you for helping me through those times as I was struggling to pump for DD. We made it through thanks in part to your help and are still going strong today. I even got to donate around 100oz of the milk I pumped in those first few weeks. Thank you!

You're welcome! I had a lot of help from BTDT moms, so I'm glad I was able to pay that forward.
And OMG 100 extra oz?!? Nice job!!!

Re: Thank you to the volunteer in the NICU
My DD will be two in just a couple of weeks. She spent 39 days in the NICU. I'll never forget the first time I saw her with a knitted blanket and hat and asked where it came from. The nurse told me about the volunteers and I was so touched. We have two blankets and I think two or three hats from her stay and I don't think I'll ever part with them.

My grandma who is 90 knits little baby hats which the hospitals give out to all the babies. She also makes rosary beads which the church distributes for free. Sometimes we don't stop and think there is a person behind this!

Re: Thank you to the volunteer in the NICU
My daughter is currently in the NICU at North Shore Manhasset and I love and will always cherish the tiny knit hats and blankets that these kind volunteers have made for her and the other babies. It is so touching that people do this and donate other things to the NICU families with how incredibly difficult this whole experience is.
