'It's the commitment in your heart': Miranda Lambert says Blake Shelton divorce has taught her marriage isn't 'just a step in life'
It's going to be her first Christmas as a single woman in a decade for Miranda Lambert, following her divorce from Blake Shelton.
And, she tells Cosmopolitan, if the end of her relationship has taught her anything it's that far from simply being a stage in life, marriage is about 'the commitment in your heart'.
The 32-year-old blonde posed in a plunging black mini dress for the magazine, as she opened up about her split from her fellow country singer.
'We were together for 10 years, married for four, were very quickly divorced, and are friends,' she explained.
'I'm still processing everything and figuring out where to go and what happened.;
And she said that: '[Marriage is] a tough business, and we gave it our best college try.'
Miranda said she had learnt that marriage was about more than just ticking a box on the to do list.
'If I ever were to get married again — which is completely not on my radar at all right now — I feel like it's not about it being a step in life.
'It's not about a piece of paper or a diamond. It's the way you feel about somebody and the commitment in your heart.'
Blake, 39, has moved on and is enjoying a romance with fellow divorcee Gwen, who announced her split from husband of 13 years Gavin Rossdale in August.
Miranda said of her life since the split: 'I just want to live a life full of everything. Some of that might mean nights on my porch crying, drinking whiskey, and going, "Man this sucks right now."'
But the Little Red Wagon singer remained positive about her future.
'I don't necessarily want to know that I have really bad, long, lonely nights ahead of me, but I have had some, and I still have a bunch ahead of me,' she admitted honestly.
'But it's about living in the moment and feeling every tinge of pain, then waking up the next day and going, "All right, I'm going to ride my ponies. I'm going to have a girls' night." That's where I am. That's where I'm gonna live.'

i only skimmedthe article, but wow marriage is the "commitment in your heart"? you just learned that?
this whole article makes me feel bad for Blake. I hope him and Gwen work out. Somehow I think they are looking for the same things in life.
