Old Fashion-y Fun - Dames At Sea
New and cool - Wicked
I saw the original and was riveted - Color Purple
I would avoid - Alladin (meh)
Had a lot of fun - Something Rotten
You cant get tickets - Hamilton and Book of Mormon, (BOM is R rated and offensive)
Great reviews (but I haven't seen) Kinky Boots.
Great show, I have not seen, but heard if you are a fan you will love - Beautiful and On Your feet
My 2 cents is: Dames at Sea, Wicked, Beautiful and Rotten.

In addition to some of the ones mentioned above, The King and I at Lincoln Center Theater is an amazing production. I saw it years ago and this production blew me away.

Jersey Boys, Chicago, On Your Feet were my favorite. Kinky Boots was good too but I had higher expectations.

I'm a Les Miserables girl myself 
And right now through February one of the best actors to ever play Valjean is reprising his role. So, if you are going to go - NOW IS THE TIME!

Jersey boys would be great. And If she likes Jersey boys she would love Dames :)

He was voted into the PBS 25th Anniversary special -- and he was one of the Valjean's that got to perform on it, I think there was only three and one of the others was Colm Wilkinson, arguably the best Valjean ever... And he rivals him. It is amazing. So, yeah, if you are going to go again, I would definitely go during his run.
He is incredible.
