No idea what to buy 6 year old ds for Xmas
He wants everything and will be happy with anything. But...he never plays with stuff. It sits on a shelf or gets broken. He lives learning and educationl stuff. Anyone have any ideas for me?

My parents bought my older son an iPod for his 6th birthday, and I got him an inexpensive speaker - he uses it ALL THE TIME

Sounds like my DS. Last year when he was 5 my SIL got him a lot of educational toys. A popcorn word game, a game with pretent crackers that you have a word and then you say the opposite. He plays with them the most.
Also, Stack Up is big in my house.
My DS doesn't play with any toys unless he has a friend over. It's all art stuff.
I asked for Magnatiles, Knex, and some other "building" type toys.
He would be happy with construction paper and crayons.
I got him a personalized book too and new place setting (all Star Wars theme). Star Wars Pajamas.

You've described my 6 yo DS! He just turned 6 and we got him a telescope for his bday. He also got a dinosaur dig kit. He likes books a lot so we've gotten some national geographic kids ones about outer space, the world, etc.
For Christmas I'm thinking metal detector, science kits, art kit, more books. That's all I have for now.

My DS is the same. Besides his legos, he loves snap circuits and his Perplexus. Maybe try one of those things?
