How to get 7 month old to nap?
My granddaughter is 7 mos. old. She's basically a happy baby, but at times is a little "needy" . She's very active. Crawling, pulling herself up holding to anything she can pull up on. She cruisin the furniture and sometimes will let go for a few seconds. the problem is she hardly naps. She'll fall asleep for a little while if she's in the car. She will fall asleep while getting a bottle. We put her in the crib and within 15-20 min. She's up screaming, crying standing in the crib. We don't know what to do to get her to nap.HELP, my first granddaughter was a great napper. Nothing gets done because its like playing beat the clock, if she does happen to sleep in her crib. Any suggestions? Most nights she sleeps thru from 9pm till 7 or 8 am. It's just the napping, my daughter tries a wubbanub (the little stuffed toy with the pacifier attached) she doesn't want it. She will sometimes suck on a corner of a blanket or a tag. She has a "taggie " blanket that sometimes helps.

It sounds like she needs sleep training. I love the book Heathy Sleep Habits Happy Child. You need to wean her off the supports (motion/car/stroller, sucking/bottle). She needs to start learning self soothing strategies to get to sleep, then during sleep cycles when she approaches a light phase of her sleep cycle she will stay asleep instead of waking up/crying. Sleep training works very well.

I agree with all of this. Also, around this time for dd1 is when I introduced a lovey which helped her self soothe herself.

Also I would try doing the naps on a schedule. Try putting her down no more than 2.5 hours after she wakes up in the morning. Also try sleep cues, like dark room, white noise, etc. Be consistent putting her down at the same time even if she isn't seeming tired.
