Car Insurance ??
Not sure if anyone has personal experience with this or they work for a car insurance company but if a child is under 18 years old, do they have to be on the parents policy? I tried looking up quotes and it says they won't quote someone under 18.

No they don't have to be on the parents policy but the Rate will be crazy since they are so young. As long as they have a valid DL then they can get auto insurance
Try Progressive they will definitely write an 18 year old

Re: Car Insurance ??
My child is 17 and I really wanted her to get her own policy so if something happens, I won't have that chance that someone would sue me and can take my home.

Thats not entirely true. My broker made sure to tell me that because DD1 is living under my roof as my dependent that they could come after me if they wanted. Whether they win would be a different story, but that isn't a chance I was willing to take.
It's one of the reasons we have an umbrella policy in place. The minimal cost every year is worth it if God forbid something were to happen.
