Do you know many adults who don't use email or go on the internet?

I was talking lately with one of my co-workers and she said she never goes on the internet at home and they are actually shutting down their email as they don't want emails anymore (not sure why they can't just go through them on a regular basis and delete but whatever lol).

I find it odd in 2015 that someone wouldn't take advantage of all the positive things the internet has (shopping, banking, etc.) instead of spending all your free time running around to pay bills or buy things in stores.

I guess I rely on my email so much now that I can't imagine not having it.

My mom. She doesn't text, email have any social media. I've cut down tremendously. If my sons activities didn't communicate 99% on FB, I would delete it. I'm hating all social media as of late.

This person is not "old" though, 50.

I get the social media being annoying but I don't think we can go backwards and it seems some would like it to be 1990 and it just is not. lol

My dad. He's 63 and pretty tech savy. But he doesn't use his phone for anything other then calls/texts and pics. He uses fb, thou.

DH has Facebook but very very rarely goes on it. He is not on any other social media. He also rarely checks his email. He does pay our bills online but will still go into the bank for any othe banking. He's pretty old school lol

DH and I have the opposite problem. Out of our five grandparents who are still alive, three of our grandmothers are on Facebook. Two of my great-aunts who are in their 80's are on there too.

We're adults, so it's not like we post anything that we would be afraid to post in front of our elders. Our cousins on the other hand...

Why are they shutting down email at home? Do they have a smart phone? Email at work?

No, I do not know anyone that is off the grid 100%. Some may still not have a smartphone or use a computer at work or have a social media account but I don't know anyone that doesn't use any ONE of these things.

They still get the daily paper too and that is where they get the majority of their news from (which is old news by the time you get it now lol).

My parents. They have email but only check it like once a day so sometimes they don't respond to my emails till the next day. They don't do any banking online. They both have cell phones but only use it to make calls (they don't want to learn how to text).
ETA: my mom was telling me that a house down the block from them was for sale and they wanted to know how much it was selling for because they're thinking of putting their house on the market. So she said my dad wrote down the phone number from the sign to call them and ask. I told her just to look it up on mlsli. She was like "oh we didn't even think of that". Lol they're very old school.

My mom. She has no clue how the internet works, it's all very mysterious & complicated to her She's cute. She also doesn't know how to text. She has a cell phone but only uses it to make calls. She doesn't use a computer at all. She does everything the old fashioned way.

My father in law only got an iPad last year. Up until then he was 100% off the grid. He now has email but still doesn't really get it.

One of my grandmas still is off the grid. Oh, and my aunt. She's in her early 50s but quite poor. No smart phone, email, social media. Doesn't even own a computer and never has.

My brother and he is 29. He does have a work email but never ever checks it. He has never had a fb, Twitter, Instagram. He hates the Internet. He will only go on it if he absolutely has to. I tell him he is a dinosaur but he is convinced that social media causes too much drama and refuses to go on it. He is also the happiest person I know. Recently his wife got off all social media as well and she says it's made her happier and she talks to all her friends/family more than she did when she was on fb.

My dad has no email and doesn't know how to even turn on a computer. He is 59. He is very old school. He worked in an industry that he never needed to learn how to use the computer. My dad has no idea how to text and still uses the yellow pages to look up stuff. He has recently said he wants to leant how to use an iPhone so maybe in his 60's he will learn how to use a computer.
