Good read....It doesn't matter how they get here...

I know there is always debate about V birth vs C section and which is "better" and that some women feel cheated or like they didn't get a real birth experience because they had a C section

This little piece really puts it all in perspective.

Ignorning my OB could have killed me and my baby

Love this!

I actually had someone ask me if I felt less of a mother because I had a c section and had my birthing experience robbed from me! How ignorant!

My idea of a "perfect delivery" is one where mom and baby (or babies Chat Icon ) come out alive and healthy!

It truly does not matter! Yes, I would have liked a vaginal birth. Having an emergency C was not my idea of an ideal birth plan, but neither was dying because I was too stubborn to listen to medical professionals (which is likely would have happened if I didn't have my emergency c).

Good read....It doesn't matter how they get here...

Wow, that was quite a story.

I went into both my deliveries hoping for a vaginal birth, but knowing an emergency c section can happen for whatever reason and as long as my baby and I were healthy that's all that mattered.

And I'm going to add when I hear people having a birth plan, especially typed out or something neat like that, I laugh.

My birth plan was get baby out safely

I've had two births, one that went exactly the way I hoped in almost every way. The other couldn't have been further from my plan in ways I could have never even imagined. Almost a year later, and the only way it "matters" is that they're both here and healthy. Like many others, without my cs that likely wouldn't be the case.

IMPORTANT: if the baby appears to be black, please immediately escort Jeff out of the room and bring in Jeremy Rayburn from the 5th Floor waiting area.

My favorite was this:

If the baby must be taken from the room because of a medical emergency, we would like Jeff to accompany the child. (In this scenario, Benjamin Bratt would stay with Jamie. Please maintain mood lighting and insert the CD in Jamie’s handbag labeled, WHEN JEFF LEAVES.)

Re: Good read....It doesn't matter how they get here...

Wow, great article, I was so hellbent on having a VBAC for DC #2 and was devastated the day my OB said things weren't looking good (when I was at 40 weeks). I remember thinking I would always think about and feel robbed of the vaginal birth experience.

HA!

DS is now 2.5 years old and I could give a crap less that I had 2 c-sections. I haven't even thought about it since it happened until I read this article.

It's like when you're wedding planning and think everything is such a BIG deal and you laugh years later about how silly it all is.

I wish I could go back in time and tell myself to calm the f down Chat Icon

I've never understood this debate - I mean, do people REALLY think they they are more of a mom than me simply because they pushed a baby out of their vag and I got gutted like a fish (twice and I even scheduled my 2nd C section - GASP)? lol, so silly!!!

With dd2 I was ready to push, like her head was coming out and the dr and team were getting the table ready. I didn't care if the janitor walked by to catch her, I was pushing.
