chld health plus question..
I don't think you can get insurance until after birth. I believe for the first month, the baby is covered under the mothers insurance until a birth certificate and social security info is filled out.

Re: chld health plus question..
no for 30 days the baby is covered under the mom. But they have to add the new baby to the plan after.

chld health plus question..
Does she have to pay for those 30 days? Or is it included in her insurance? She said the hospital called her and told her to make sure the babys (shes having twins) have insurance. She can not really afford to add them to her plan so she was gonna apply for child health plus.

She will have to add them to her plan- sometimes you will get a bill in the mail but you just send it in to your insurance. They are covered under hers from birth and she has to call within 30 days to inform her insurance of the life change event and they will back date to the birth date. For example- when I got married I added my husband to my insurance and needed the marriage license obviously I didn't leave the church with it, however i did get it within 2 weeks- so once I got it I went to my benefits department and added him to mine- the back date the effective date to the date of the event (marriage) to provide him with insurance- same for births. Once the birth certificate is issued she will send it to her insurance. After those things are in place she can then shop around but not prior because they technically don't exist in terms of no birth certificate/ social security number. She can also go on the website- there's steps how to apply, eligibility, etc as well as a number. I also believe this can be done now through the market place? Not too sure but I think it can- BIL is an insurance broker I can ask him.

Re: chld health plus question..
have her do all of it now. When is she due? It's open enrollment right now and it will be a December 1 start date. Depending on her salary she may qualify for them to have CHP.
