Re: Hilton Garden Inn - Riverhead
I've never stayed there, but am familiar with the area, so I can help you out with some of the questions.
The hotel is not on the water. It is directly across from the Tanger outlets. From the outside, there does not appear to be any balconies, as there's not much to look at. It's right off the LIE. The Hyatt is also in Riverhead, but downtown Riverhead on Main Street. It is on the Peconic Riverfront, and there are views of the river. It is also attached to the aquarium. Not sure of you're thinking about that hotel.
Back to the Hilton. It's a little distance to water- either the bay or Sound. Probably at least 20 minutes to get to any beach areas.
Other than the aquarium, there's a lot of local wineries, farm stands, tons of shopping, etc.
There's a few pizza places around, but I can't think of too many solely Italian restaurants. There are lots of places to eat, and a lot of great restaurants downtown now. Perabell and Sonoma Grill just recently opened. Plenty more restaurants as you drive out east on the North Fork.

Was looking for a hotel close to the water. Balcony views or within a short walking distance to the water.
Thank you

When I read this, I thought maybe you were thinking of the Hyatt Place East End, which is on the water next to the aquarium.
