Preterm Contractions
Did anyone have this with their pregnancies? On Sunday at 27w4d I started having contractions. They felt like BH as they weren't very painful but they were frequent, every 3 min at one point. I went to the hospital and was monitored and had a cervical check. I wasn't dilating so they said it was preterm contractions not preterm labor.
If you had this did you have continuing contractions for the rest of your pregnancy? Did you end up having a premature delivery? I am so nervous now. I keep having contractions and had consistent ones again last night.

Preterm Contractions
I had contractions from 28 weeks on. I had a few cervical checks to make sure my cervix was still long- I went into labor at 39 weeks 2 days. I was told my uterus was "irritable" and instructed to take it easy- and to limit lifting and bending.

Re: Preterm Contractions
You'll probably have them the remainder of your pregnancy. It's annoying, and you do have to take it easy, but if they are not making you dilate, there's no risk of preterm labor.
The annoying part is that there;s no way to tell if it's real contractions, or not without monitoring and cervical checks.

Re: Preterm Contractions
I had "irritable uterus" with all my pregnancies starting around 26-27 weeks. Some times my contractions felt regular and took my breath away, and other times they were irregular. Baby #1 turned out to be preterm labor (involved cervical change), babies #2 and 3 just had contractions that did not involve any cervical change. All my kids went to full term, and with baby #3, I ended up going past my due date and being induced. I was surprised that I went past my due date given the number of contractions I was having. Hang in there!

Re: Preterm Contractions
I had this with both, more with number 1. It didn't cause cervical changes and I delivered at 39 weeks. I would get contractions with number two fairly often and delivered at 38 weeks. I'm currently 13 weeks and have been noticing contractions for a few weeks now.

Preterm Contractions
Thanks for all the info! I was also told I have an irritable uterus. It's hard to take it easy since I have a 3 and 2 year old! I feel like I will be making few trips to L&D before this baby is born!

That does sound like a difficult task with two little ones! Hang in there and don't hesitate to get checked if you feel you need it!
