Trick or treating at a mall?

We had plans to meet up with close family friends who moved an hour plus away to still trick or treat together but turns out where they live there are no street lights or side walks so people trick or treat at the mall. This sounds super disappointing to me. Am I right or is this a cool thing and change is good and this will be fun?

I've done TOT'ing at the mall in addition to regular TOT'ing the neighborhood. To me, the mall TOT is not really the same AT ALL as going around house to house. I don't think it's a good replacement for TOT'ing around town, just something sorta fun to do in addition to. JMO.

We went to the mall last night (I'm OOS) and my kids had a lot of fun. I don't think it's as fun as going through the neighborhood though, but they got a lot of candy, the mall was packed with kids and it was warm lol.

We did this one cold wet year.
Honestly, it was fine. And warm. And safe.

I understand your stress. I get crazy anxiety and hate when my traditions have to be bent for other family and friend events/gathering. But-- If you make it fun, it will be fun. You obviously wanted to be with the people who initiated it, so focus on that, and if after it is all over and you still miss trick or treating the old fashioned way, then next time choose a different time to visit them or have them visit you for halloween! One year to do mall trick or treating isn't something to stress about even if it turns out to be stinky! Good luck!!
