If you had/have a very large freezer stash

What's your routine for rotating or not rotating through your stash? More for sahms....

Just curious what others are doing. I'm a sahm, dd2 is just shy of 4 months. We bought a separate deep freezer just for the milk. I have about 250 bags.

I started using ome freezer bag a day just to rotate through a little.

250 bags!!?? Chat Icon You're a milk machine!

I gave my kids fresh whenever I could, it's always the highest quality. If I pumped and had a freezer stash I would use it if I had to pump and dump or needed to leave a bottle and go out. I also used it when I was done BFing for good and could stretch out how long they got breast milk.

Lol. Yeah funny bc with my first dd I pumped all day to make one bottle! Not one bag ever even made it to the freezer lol

After a few months dd stopped accepting bottles so it's great that you're giving a bottle a day. I wish I'd given them more consistently. Honestly I'd probably cut back on pumping if you have that big of a stash. I only pumped once in a while after the first month. If you're starting solids soon you can use some for cereal or thinning purees. Id definitely give oldest milk first if it's just a bottle a day to rotate it. You could also look to donate some. I gave away most of my stash since it was getting pretty old even for a deep freezer and I didn't have much use for it.

Thanks. At one point did you give it away? I'm not going to but just curious.

My oldest milk is still only 3 months.

It was probably 8 or 9 months old at least. I had tried hm4hb,never posted it just responded to people looking, but had no takers. Ended up giving it to a local mom.

I froze probably 100-150 ounces during my maternity leave. Around 5 months, I still had not used any of it. I wound up donating it to woman on one of those FB sites.

While I pumped, I would sometimes pump more than DS would drink. I used that milk once I stopped pumping when DS was 14 months old. I'd just put it in a sippy cup. I ran out of milk when DS was 16 months old.

If I was you, I would stop pumping and only pump if I missed a nursing session.

Re: If you had/have a very large freezer stash

My entire freezer is breast milk. It's crazy. Anyway, it's sitting there & I never use it. When I'm with the baby, I bf him. When I'm at work or apart from him, I use milk I pumped at work the day before. I plan to use it all once I'm done breastfeeding for good (probably 3 or 4 months from now), then I'll just go through it all, oldest first.
