choking/gasping
every once in a while my 4 week old dd will choke on what im assuming is milk she hasn't swallowed fully or that is caught in her throat. it's such a scary choke. it's like she's gasping for air and i just put her upright and pat her back until it's cleared. it can happen an hour after a feed too, not necessarily right after.
my friend said it happens to her dd too sometimes. ive read it can be common but i think i need to hear from moms here if they experience this.

I wonder if it could be a nasal drip or even reflux. When reflux comes up it might get "stuck" in her throat. I would mention it to her ped for sure.

Did her saliva just come in? I remember when dd1 was only about 6 weeks old and I was in a new mom group. All of a sudden she just started choking and I panicked. The other moms and the leader, we're so calm and were like oh yeah her saliva is developing.

i was thinking post nasal drip too..bc it sounds like when i get it. but probably reflux.
so i shouldnt worry? it's normal?

It's normal, but could need treatment. Some babies have it worse than others. Arch their backs while eating. Have to sleep on an incline. Some are on medicine for it. Best to talk to your pedi.

she does sometimes arch her back when eating (i breastfeed)
