I mean seriously.
I'd like to book a trip for the end of April.
We like flying SouthWest ONLY because it's so convenient to fly out of Islip- we live 5 min from there, literally

But come on- STILL no flight schedule past April 11th? I'ts the END of Oct already

All other airlines have their flights out for April and beyond by now.

What is the reasoning for this?

It sucks and I have no answer as to why they don't allow booking further out but I did see that they are opening the booking window on 10/27.

I would be prepared to book the second the window opens since that is spring break week!

Jet Blue us only until early June. I'm itching for them to extend it. We're trying the plan a group trip to Aruba and we would like to book it ASAP.

Most of the major airlines (United, Delta, American) let you book 330 days in advance while JetBlue, Southwest and Spirit adhere to their own schedule. Since 4/11/16 is less than 6 mos away at this point, I would think they would be extending their schedule soon (since they try to keep it at 6 mos out).

Yes they said on 10/27 it will come out.
Just annoying that you can't book further in advance.

Re: Is Southwest the ONLY airline that won't let you book past April 11th at this point?

Ok and now i need to ask- why is Southwest SOOOOO expensive?
I thought they were supposed to be a cheaper option?

The flights are double the price as the same dates/destinations on other airlines.

Ridiculous

I have noticed this too and as a result have not flown them much.

I'll pay a little more to fly out of Islip, but not double.

No baggage fees but we're light packers anyway so we can usually minimize or eliminate checked baggage.

For me, leaving out of ISP is SO much more convenient, AND the fact that there are ZERO penalties for changing your flights, which I do SO often. Also free bags, and no other airlines offer that now. Not even Jetblue. I booked a flight a couple of months ago, and have changed it now 3 times to go to various destinations (we are indecisive when it comes to travel lol). Was so nice to know I can do that with Southwest.

Re: Is Southwest the ONLY airline that won't let you book past April 11th at this point?

I am talking $400 ONE WAY to Ft Lauderdale.
Versus $271(or even less) ROUND TRIP to Ft Lauderdale same day and time on American or Delta.

I can't justify that.

I just can't

Re: Is Southwest the ONLY airline that won't let you book past April 11th at this point?

So crazy. I booked yesterday morning and got the wanna get away fares so each leg was about $130. Last night I checked and they were all sold out of that price.
I used points - for my 4 tickets I used 77,000 points but if I booked last night it would have been 375,000 points.
So glad I booked when I did.

And what is that wanna get away rate? Non refundable right? And you can't move your tickets?
So to get their cheap rates- you have to give up the perks of flying them right?
And they sell out of that rate? So it's only good for a few tickets per flight?

In my opinion they are a scam then.

Between that and their cattle call boarding I find no reason to fly them- other than the HUGE convience of Islip airport.

But that convenience is NOT worth $1000s of dollars more for the same flight.

You can absolutely change your flights with the wanna get away fares. That's all I book. You won't get a refund. Just credit good for a year.

So what is the difference with wanna get away vs other fares?
What makes it so much cheaper?

No clue, I've never booked a different category, and we fly them a couple times a year. I suspect there aren't as many as the full fare though.
