FTM - questions to ask Pediatrician
I am a FTM due next month and have scheduled an appointment to meet ("interview?") a pediatric group that came recommended to me. What are some of the general questions you would ask, or things you would find important to know about your pediatrician before selecting one? I already like that the office has great hours including late nights and Saturdays since I will be returning to work. Other than that, I am kind of clueless. Thanks

FTM - questions to ask Pediatrician
You already said it, but hours and weekend availability.
Do they have a sick room in the waiting area Vaccines. Do they let you space them out, delay, etc On call after hours. Is there always a dr available Hospital affiliation Do they encourage breastfeeding? Support formula feeding?

Re: FTM - questions to ask Pediatrician
I would ask for the practice's view on administering medicine (some prescribe antibiotics or suggest Tylenol on a dime, others do not).
Ask about their view on feeding (when to give solids, cow's milk etc). Some are more progressive so you'll want to be in sync.
Our practice also had pretty progressive views on sleep training which was a big part of the first year's appts and discussions.
And vaccinations, if they recommend and do all the standard ones, if your views also align there.
Good luck!

FTM - questions to ask Pediatrician
IMO you can ask all the questions in the world but you will never know if you like a Dr until you start using them.
