ladies who work out regularly and had a c
the resident who visted me at the hospital basically said i could get on a treadmill right away and lift anything under 30 pounds.
im all about training, i trained the day i had her but i feel like i have no idea what my insides are like right now, you know?
my recovery has been great. its only been 2.5 weeks though.
when did you start getting back into working out?
i was thinking of getting on my stepper at first and just doing what i can...then transition to weights when i feel comfortable.

I did not have a c-section, but my ob gyn recommended no running for at least 3 months. Your pelvic floor muscles are SO weak at this point and the constant pounding associated with running is not good for them. The gyno-urologist I see recommends no running for 9 months.
I started working out a 6 weeks post partum. I mostly did the bike for a few months and baby bootcamp. I started getting back into running around 5 months post partum.

I don't work out lol but I do have a 24lb 19m old that I only just started to pick up at 5wpp. I was actually told no lifting anything heavier than the baby til 6wpp. I was actually told that at 2wpp when I was there for my incision check.

Didn't do anything for six weeks.
And I am an avid gym-goer and have been very athletic my whole life.
But I needed to heal.

I used to run (just getting back into it now) before my DS. I started running about 8 weeks postpartum and totally threw out my back. i couldn't believe how weak my core had become. I walked a lot before I started running, but just keep in mind that your insides were basically cut open. Watch out for weak hips.

the resident who visted me at the hospital basically said i could get on a treadmill right away and lift anything under 30 pounds.
I just read this part again and it reminded me how a resident told me that the reason I couldn't drive after a C was because of the percocet and that as long as I wasn't taking it, I could. She also said I could lift my older DD after a week or 2. Then the attending came in later on to discharge me and I mentioned what the resident said and she was like, no that is not true at all and then told me not to drive til 2-3 weeks and not because of the percs but because of reaction time and staples or lift anything heavier than the baby for 6 weeks.
So yeah... maybe take what the resident said with a grain of salt lol and ask your OB.

I never asked and I went for my first slooooooow jog this week, 7 weeks after the C-section. My abs were sore afterwards. Not so sore that I wouldn't go again, but I was surprised how much they hurt.
But we're talking, like, an 18-minute-mile slow here. I wanted to see what my body could do and basically jogged as fast as I'd walk.

I started kickboxing when my twins were 3 1/2 months and the ab workouts are KILLER! I have no strength in my core. It makes me sad. LOL. Between struggling with ab workouts and pushups (which i used to do everyday) I wanted to cry "what did these babies do to me?!" LOL Little by little...im going to start working out more often to build my stregnth back up.

Start with small crunches and work your way up. It definitely takes time. My DS is almost 4 and I still don;t have the core strength I had

I was told no exercise for 6 weeks. Honestly, I would NOT push yourself. It is a major surgery. You will have plenty of time to bounce back it is not worth the risk, IMO. Even after 6 weeks I did not feel 100%. And I am a pretty avid runner. I did not start running again until 3 months PP.
Walking should be fine, but I would 100% not lift or run until at least 6 weeks. You can do permanent damage.

Re: ladies who work out regularly and had a c
I was an avid runner before DD was born. I don't think I went back out until she was about 3 months old. Granted, she was born in December so it was FREEZING and I wasn't going out running or taking her out in that anyway. But the first 50 degree day, we went for our first walk/jog. I think it was sometime in March.

My OB told me very light workouts at 8 weeks - I had a C. Nothing ab related for 3 months and to take everything very slowly. I followed his advice.

Re: ladies who work out regularly and had a c
I'm no athlete but I was told no heavy lifting and no running for 6 weeks. I opened up my second csec incision cleaning 5 days after I was home. You really need time to heal and you should really ease into whatever you're going to do.
