First world problem, I know. But we can't decide if we should go to the Suffolk County Farm in yaphank, or Schmitt farms in Melville today. Any recommendations? Dd is 3 and we want her to get to go on a hayride, see animals, etc. Thanks!

Suffolk farm is a real working farm so it doesn't have much... I'm actually going there today bc my dd's dentist has an event there. I needed to get tickets for it so I'm not sure if it's open to the public today... Schmitts I heard was a mess this weekend (crazy packed with all city folk lol). I heard finks was a good choice. There's also something going on today at Lenny bruno farms. Bounce houses, pony rides, corn maze, pumpkin picking etc. no admission fee either!!!

I got schmitts every year.

they have a play ground, pony rides, corn maze, bounce houses and petting animals(I think). you can take a ride to go get the pumpkins .

you have to pay for basically everything except for the rides to get the pumpkins.

the playground is $5 per child, bounve house you have to pay for tickets I think its 1 ticket per bounce house. I want to say they are $1-$2 per ticket. I don't remember how much the corn maze pony rides or the petting of the animals are.

if you want a wagon that $5 to rent.

all that said do I love Schmitt's no only because it so expensive to do everything. this year we had to pay for DS to do things too so I convinced them not to do bounce houses Chat Icon and they really have no interests in doing the animals but its good enough for me for pumpkin picking we go out east for apple picking I don't feel like going out there again just to get pumpkins

Suffolk county farm is fun but not like most of the commercial places. It's free but you won't get wagon rides in a regular day or pumpkins or anything. There is a children's garden with climbers, a music area, paint with water, a spot worth a slide and train to climb, and tons of animals but they're a bit spread out. Dd loves it and they are open every day but a few major holidays.

LOL dr k?

Eta: I have no idea how it's going to be so I'm using that Lenny Bruno's farm as a backup.

Yes, Dr. k! I'm not sure what it will be like either, that's why I wasn't sure if it would be worth the trip. But it's worth a try, I guess. Good to know about lenny brunos. I never heard of that one, thanks!

I don't think Schmitts has animals. If you want lots of animals, go to White Post Farms. They also have the hayride, bouncers and slides, playground equipment - most of it is included (except the train ride and food to feed the animals) but its more to get in than Schmitts.

We went to schmitts today. It was crowded and hard to turn onto pinelawn road to get there. A lot of people ended up parking in an office building parking lot down the road
