My three year old DD has fine curly hair. If it makes any difference , she is Caucasian . I wash her hair about every other evening. I shampoo it then comb through Loreal Kids conditioner /detangler. I always let it air dry. It looks nice once it is air dried but at night put it in pony tail so it does not get knotty while she sleeps. When she gets up I use a wide tooth comb but need to pny tail it because it looks frizzy looking.

I want something to define, eliminate frizz yet not weigh down her hair down. Do I use Shea Moisture? Kinky Kurly Custard? Mixed Chicks?

I wouldn't bother at that age. I would put it in a pony or braid it. I think anything you would use to get rid of the frizz would weigh down her hair and make it oily. Plus, she is 3, likely running around, playing, etc, so up especially in a braid is probably the easiest. My BFF has that kind of hair and only uses mousse, for what it's worth. I just think that it's not worth it at this point since up is probably best regardless.

My DD has curly hair too. I usually shampoo, condition, spray with a detangler and comb through. Then I run a pea sized amount of curl cream ( I use OGX Curl Defining Cream) through her ends and let it air dry. In the morning, I spray her hair with a water bottle to style it and then put a tiny bit more curl cream in if it's a little unruly. I really see a difference in her hair since using the curl cream. The detangler just wasn't cutting it anymore.

I use Ouidad mousse and botanical boost. ITS AMAZING! I get it at Ulta. It takes all the frizz out and you can use the botanical boost on dry hair and it brings back all the curls and takes out the frizz!

This is my first experience with curly hair cause mine is straight and my daughter is super curly. The worst thing to do it comb it when its dry, that MAKES it frizzy. I just do that scrunchy thing with my hands through her hair.

At night I shampoo and condition knowing she's going to wake up with bedhead. In the morning I spray her hair with just water in a spray bottle so that it can air dry again and the curls re-form.

Yes, this. Especially if it's fine like you say. It will be weighed down by any of those products for curls- those are generally for thicker, coarser hair

I have thick hair so I use a cocoanut oil lotion on my hair and then the Shea moisture cocoanut oil spray.. I've used both on my daughters curly hair which is much thinner and I find a tiny bit of the spray alone defines her hair without making it oily .. I only wash it like every 4 days though.. other days we just wet it in the shower and brush

My DD has a very slight curl in her hair. I don't use any product yet. I wet it, comb it while wet, then I do a little scrunch with my hands and it looks pretty good. If her hair is dry, I just run my fingers through it.

I use California baby mousse and it really defines the curls and it's a great company that doesn't use harsh chemicals....if you're into that sort of thing Chat Icon
