never mind, not looking to start a posting war.
I am not on FB, but to me it does come off very fake to some degree.
Again, I did not say everyone or every comment is fake.

I don't know...when people would show me actual pictures (when we still printed photos..lol) of their families, I would comment that the kids were cute. Great shot. Beautiful family picture.
So I see it as the same thing.

ya, but it seem different. I don't know. When people are going on and on about how cute someone kids are etc. with faces with hearts etc..

I can't speak for that person & her friends but I can honestly say that I'm sincere whether it's liking a photo or wishing people well - BUT ESPECIALLY when it comes to photos. I'm very critical of photos, in general.

I happen to get a lot of likes and comments on my daughters pictures... Sometimes it surprises me. But at the same time people tell me the same thing in person.
I would like to think its not fake.
When I comment love it or aw so cute I genuinely mean it. If I didn't I wouldn't post it. It's easier to scroll past it if it's not appealing to me than say if that person wAs in front of me and I HAD to comment, kwim? That's why I don't think it's too fake - no one is forcing you to comment or admit you saw it, so I take it for face value.

When I write it on people's photos, I mean it. I dont understand why it would be seen as fake? I cant genuinely think people have a beautiful family, or that their child is adorable, or that they look great?? If I didnt mean it, I just wouldnt post anything.

Call me fake but I genuinely like seeing pics of families, kids, travels, what people are up to, etc. but the again, I genuinely like those on my list.

I am not saying its all fake, or everyone is fake on here or FB but it seem over done. JMO. When I like something I say it as well. When someone has 50, 150 or more comments it just seem a bit much to me

The good thing about FB is like any other form of social media, you DO have the option to not look at it if it bothers you that much.

This.
My family and friends tend to be far away, so it's a good form of communication so they'd know what is going on in my life.
And my son does happen to be adorable in the majority of his pics as well.

You deleted your post before I could see it but I think I get the gist of what it was from the responses.
And I think I know what you mean except not so much with pics of kids, but with pics of adults.
I have seen the words gorgeous and stunning thrown around for pictures and selfies that are NOT by any stretch of the imagination, even close to those adjectives in the real world.
It makes me  sometimes and question my vision or perception.

I saw your post earlier before you deleted it but did not get a chance to respond.
I see so many people complain about FB and how they get so agitated by it and how everyone is fake but it just makes me wonder if some people don't need to just clean out their friends list. I honestly hardly ever see drama on my feed and there really isn't anyone that stands out as driving me insane or acting "fake". Most of my friends list is family and people I knew from high school and I GENUINELY enjoy seeing their pics and knowing they are well and happy. When I "like" their pics or make a nice comment I mean it. If there is a pic I don't like, something I don't agree with, or something I don't find funny I just scroll on past and say nothing.
Maybe it's just me but I consider FB just a fun, little diversion in my day. Some take it WAY too seriously, it's meant to just be light and social. If there are so many fake, phony, and annoying people on your newsfeed just start deleting people. Problem solved.
Not for anything OP, if you don't even have a FB account I find it kind of silly to even comment on people being "fake" and saying "phony" things when you don't even have firsthand experience yourself. I don't really agree with your observation and I find most things people post to be pretty kind, not over the top, and not fake. I don't see any reason to post "fake" comments when you can just as easily scroll past and say nothing which to me is WAY easier than typing out some phony comment to blow smoke up someone's a$$.

I often wonder why people care so much about what other people think, post, etc. on Facebook. If you don't like what you are seeing/reading, either defriend or hide that person's posts.

Maybe they have 150 people that happen to like that particular picture? 
I have noticed such a trend in bitter people these days. People that complain about what they see on social media, people who post to much, people who post pictures of their kids, people who post what they made for dinner, etc. etc. It's SOCIAL media. The point is to be social, and to SHARE what is going on in your life with others.

Agreed. Do I think people have too much time on their hands when they are on FB all day long posting nonsense? Sure. Do I dislike how people use it for a platform for attention? Sure. But I certainly don't lose sleep over it or let is annoy me. If that was the case, I would just in-activate my account.
What I DON'T like is all the hate on facebook. People commenting hurtful things...people with their self rightous opinions shaming others who feel differently...I just dont understand it. This is why I don't really like what social media has become and why at some point, I see removing myself from it all together. It is so out of control and does more harm than good.

personally I love catching up w old friends, keeping in touch w friends and family who live far, it is wonderful IMO the pros outweigh the cons by a lot for me.
