Anyone familiar with Hopewell Junction, looking to purchase land

I came across 10 acres of land in Hopewell Junction Dutchess County for sale. Our long term plans involve building a house. DH is somewhat familiar with the area as he lived there when he was a child (late 70's). Is there anything specific we would need to know? There seem to be high tension power lines not too far from property, which freak me out a bit. There are houses on either sides of the land and it backs up to a creek. We plan on taking a ride to see it, just wanted to see if anyone had any input.

My DH grew up there so I am pretty familiar with the area. My ILs moved out of the area in 2009 due to my FIL's job relocating. It's a nice area, but most things are not convenient to get to - like a 20 minute drive to get to most shopping areas (excluding grocery stores and a few strip malls) even though I would not consider it a rural area.

Thank you. We are looking for a slower pace of life. The Taconic is fairly close.

My father just sold his house in a nearby town. His taxes were constantly going up. So my suggestion is to research what your taxes might be for your property and a home. Other than that the area is a nice change from Long Island.

It's a nice area. You should be fine. I grew up in the Hudson Valley. Really only areas you have to be mindful of are their larger "city" areas....Poughkeepsie, Newburgh, Middletown, Port Jervis.

My family is still in the Minisink school district across the river if anyone has any questions.
