Does this sound like a migraine?
I have always suffered from migraines. Haven't found meds that help much without side effects yet. The other day it was so bad I was dizzy and vomiting. Last night it came back slightly. No nausea or anything, just a slight pain and almost like a tingling from behind my left eye/temple and going around to the back of my head. Left side only. I still have it this morning. I'll call my neuro tomorrow but wondering if anyone has experienced this? I am such a nervous nelly and of course always think the worst so I'm trying to calm my nerves by reaching out. I'm praying that it is just a different sort of migraine than I am used to. Thoughts? Again I WILL def call my doctor tomorrow when they open.

Re: Does this sound like a migraine?
Could it be allergies and sinuses?
I don't get migraines but every fall for the past maybe 6 years I've had the headaches you're describing - felt awful and weird. Then I vomit and feel better. Almost instantly. It's so weird and gross. I think it's a buildup of post nasal drip that I get out (I no longer take Allegra or Flonase or anything cuz I'm sick of taking them. Yeah so I suffer like this instead ). The pressure you're feeling- could it possibly be a buildup of sinus pressure?
Aside from that - for your regular migraines have you explored your diet? My bil cut out dairy and fried foods for a while and that seemed to help him tremendously
Hope you feel better and try not to panic. I'm sure everything's fine and with this change of weather from hot and beautiful to nonstop monsoons I'm sure that wreaks havoc on our bodies

Thank you for your response. I don't usually have allergies and I don't feel any pain in my sinus area but I guess anything is possible. I haven't gone the diet route but I have heard some people have success with that. I was thinking the weather had something to do with it as well. I am a teacher and although I try not to complain about it (since it's usually just a few days), the classroom last week was really torture. I was sitting and sweating lol. By the end of the week I was just exhausted so maybe that has something to do with it as well. Thanks again!

Thanks! When I look up the ocular migraine it does sound like it except that my vision isn't really affected.
this might help differentiate for you:
Ocular migraines are painless, temporary visual disturbances that can affect one or both eyes. Though they can be frightening, ocular migraines typically are harmless and self-resolve without medication within 20 to 30 minutes.
Other terms used by eye doctors to describe ocular migraines include ophthalmic migraines, retinal migraines and eye migraines.
If an ocular migraine-like vision disturbance is followed by a throbbing, usually one-sided headache, this is called a "migraine with aura" (previously called a classic migraine), and the visual disturbance is referred to as an aura rather than an ocular migraine.
A migraine headache without a visual disturbance preceding it is called a "migraine without aura" (previously called a common migraine).
So if you get a headache with a visual disturbance it's a migraine with aura If you JUST get the visual disturbance it's an ocular migraine.
If you get a migraine with no visual disturbance it's a common migraine or migraine without aura

Re: Does this sound like a migraine?
Thank you! I'm so over this migraine crap! I'm going to start taking magnesium daily and research a bit more.
On a separate note, does anyone know of a migraine specialist that has a more holistic approach? The meds I've been prescribed in the past have had scary side effects and now I'm afraid to try any others!

Let me tell you my regime and I can tell you it has helped me SOOOOO much. I never got them often- maybe once every other month was the most- a few times a year- since I was a child. Mine only last a few hours- like half a day, so I was lucky in that respect- but man are they debilitating. I get the visual aura, i get numbness, i feel confused. Then the headache and vomiting too. I can't work when I get one.
Since starting this- over time- I have decreased the frequency to MAYBE twice a year. The last migraine I had was damn- a year ago OCTOBER!
So I take- 500 mg magnesium daily- in addition to my hair skin and nail vit which has about 100 mg in it
200 mg CoQ10 daily- if you research this ,they are thinking it might be a miracle cure for migraines- the research is amazing
And 3 mg melatonin each night before bed
I also find that if I pop 500 mg magnesium when I feel one coming on- it shortens the duration and severity of the migraine
Like you, i have NO desire for the prescription meds- the side effects are worse than the migraine for me I hate drugs of any kind. I am a big believer in natural cures for things- when they work that is
So far, this has really helped me
