Julian's 2nd Birthday Party (White Post - PICS)
I had Julian's 2nd Birthday party Sunday. Knowing it was a holiday weekend going in, I spoke to the close people I really wanted there ahead of time before "marrying" to the date and asked if it would be OK. Everyone that I really wanted to be there said totally fine, so I sent out invites knowing that if other people couldn't make it because of the holiday, it would be fine. Turns out, we still had a great response regardless! I kept the guest list small though, from word-go. I'm a FTWM and a single mom so I wanted to keep it simple and I wanted to choose a place that really did soup-to-nuts, everything. I chose White Post Farms because of that and they really did a wonderful job.
Their packages include everything from invites to the plates, cups, decor, party attendants, - even favors, etc. I mean, they do it all. I did choose to personalize things and do extra stuff on my own but I didn't have to. Like, I did a custom invite with his picture from Tiny Prints. I also had Laura the Cookie Lady do cookie favors to add to the favors that White Post provides. I bought additional balloons at my local party store, things like that to add to it but that was my choice and if you just let them do it all, it's more than enough.
For food each child gets pizza with juice. I chose to pay extra and order other food for the adults to have - directly through White Post and it was delicious. We had a big cheese platter with crackers, italian sandwich platters, and macaroni and potato salads too. They did soda, water, and coffee, unlimited. I knew the water would be in pitchers so I chose to bring in chilled bottled water with me so that if people wanted water when we left the party room to do the farm, they would have it. That is a good tip for anyone who is thinking of having a party there -- it was nice to be able to grab a bottle and take it with you. Even nicer on a hot day!
Water Bottles with Custom Label (Via Etsy Vendor):

I just got the labels via the Etsy vendor and bought Dasani bottles - easiest to peel off the existing labels and the best/flattest surface area for sticking new labels, in my opinion!
I chose the Farmview Room - again, White Post makes it real easy - they give you a tour, you choose what you want, you choose all the little stuff (what favors you want) off a checklist, they confirm with you ahead of time, you give a head count and kids names so they can personalize the favors (which was really nice). The package includes up to 15 kids and then you pay per head for any additional kids and unlimited adults. Worked well for us because I only had seven kids (not a lot of children in my family) and a good amount of adults. So that was nice. They even provide you with invites. I chose to do invites from Tiny Prints with Julian's pic on them but if you wanted to, they provide that included as well. The only thing I added was a train ride for each child, and a candy goody bag on top of the favors that are included in the package (I chose pony banks). It was cheap, like $2 a kid for the train and $5 a kid for the candy bags. Again, if you just go with the basic package it is really more than enough but I wanted to add a few things here and there.
They have balloon decorations included but I did go to Party Hardy near where I live and order a few extra balloon farm animal centerpieces. Those were very cheap - just $5 a centerpiece!

The kids all wanted to take one home at the end, and did, so that was really cute.
I always add cookie favors to every party I have - even my baby shower, I used Laura The Cookie Lady for cookies. She is always a pleasure to work with, always so talented in terms of her designs and the cookies are fresh and delicious and arrive perfectly every single time. I highly recommend her!! She is fabulous.
I did farm animals cookies with a cute personalized tag...

White Post provided the cake as well which was absolutely DELICIOUS. I did the fresh strawberry filling with vanilla sponge and white icing -- holy moly that strawberry and vanilla sponge was SO FRESH. Absolutely delicious and everyone commented on it. I usually order custom cakes from bakeries and such -- which are always wonderful, don't get me wrong, but this came included in the package AND it was delicious so I would highly recommend sticking with what they give you...

He was stunned but loving everyone singing Happy Birthday to him
When guests started arriving they were directed to the party entrance and the party room we were in by attendants and workers at the farm. It was great - the staff was so on point about that. The package includes two personal party attendants who did EVERYTHING - they were so great with the kids and directing everyone from thing to thing but also impeccable about set up. I had done a custom banner through an Etsy vendor and they hung it for me, arranged my balloon CP's that I had done extra, etc. They really bent over backwards and the food set up and handing out the food to everyone - they were excellent "waitresses" when they needed to be. All the guests commented on the food. It was very fresh.
Attendants gave him a Birthday Boy button!

That was considered like the appetizer -- we ate, then went out to enjoy the farm, then came back for sandwiches and mac/potato salads.
It was all set up in a flash and seamlessly -- with perfect timing. They were so great about that.

They arranged the favors they provide (the banks) and then my cookies and goody bags so beautifully...

The train ride -- that is $2.00 per child which is very inexpensive but worth it, my son loved it so much he wanted to go twice!

The baby bunny petting was a highlight as well...

So was feeding the little goats:

Each child got to do a pony ride too which was really nice. Sadly Julian cried for the majority of the pony ride I have NO idea why because he normally loves them! So, I don't have pics of that --- although I should post them, because they are kind of humorous
All the other children had a ball on the pony ride!
I think I covered everything - it was so much fun. I will answer any questions if you have any and add stuff if I think of it!

Aww thanks! Yeah Laura is wonderful.
I have worked with her at least five times over the years now.
And yeah, I can't help myself, I'm a party planner at heart.

Everything looks great! I probably wouldn't bring anything extra, but it's really nice. Could you have done food first and then animals? Can you pick cake designs - like something girlier?

The one thing they are cagey about is changing the order of stuff or rearranging and it is bc they do so many parties -- they have two other rooms and party times before and after the slot we were in so everything kind of has to run on a tight loop to work. That's why we chose to have the cheese and cracker platter! Bc that is there upon arrival so guests get a little something before we go out to the farm and come back in for the main meal. That helps if people arrive starving. Helps a lot! Lol!
But, the farm is open until 6pm and whenever the party is done everyone in the party has unlimited access to the farm for the remainder of the day. For us, it was awesome - every guest we had went out into the farm for more!
The cake, I'm sure, you would just have to ask for girlier colors -- I'm assuming they would automatically do it. Like the balloons they supplied and the name tags were all boy colors knowing Julian is a boy. So I wouldn't be surprised if they changed it up accordingly for a girl.

Oh sure! They were $3 a cookie. Not pricey, that's for sure.
I know she has some that are a little less, some that are a little more -- I think it depends on the size of the cookie, the details involved on the cookie, etc. But if you email Laura she can tell you specifically for what you need.
She is on Facebook -- Laura the Cookie Lady. I know she has a website too. You just have to google that.
HTH!

Looks like a great party! Awesome job mama and happy birthday to your son!!
I just had DS in August and DD is August too. I'll be doing combined birthdays in the future. White Post is definitely on my list, although may have to wait for DS to be a bit older to enjoy it.
